The New York Giants flew to Los Angeles on Sunday to head 37 points dropped on their dome as the Chargers ran them off the field. Daniel Jones missed his 2nd consecutive start with a neck injury as Mike Glennon went out there and was fine or whatever.
Here’s what Glennon accomplished against the Chargers:
- 17/36 (47%)
- 191 yards
- 2 touchdowns
- 1 interception
- 1 rushing TD
These are pretty much Daniel Jones numbers so I reckon the goal is for your backup to match the production of your starter. The problem is that the starter is highly replaceable and both Jones and Glennon should be backups.
And unfortunately for Daniel Jones, it looks like he’ll never start a game again.
Though Giants QB Mike Glennon is expected to start Sunday vs. Cowboys with Daniel Jones still out, recently acquired QB Jake Fromm could see some action in the game, per source. It’s something the team is considering.

Daniel Jones still has a neck injury and Jake Fromm is getting practice reps and potentially might play in their next game.
It’s also being reported that Daniel Jones is seeing a spine specialist to help treat his neck injury. It’s uh, not great for your professional football career when you need someone to examine your SPINE. This might be the finish line for Jones.
Now, I don’t believe this is the end of DJ’s career. But it’s pretty clear that there is going to be a new front office in charge after another disappointing season. Dave Gettleman can’t return.
So whoever takes over will be coming with fresh eyes and zero loyalty to Gettleman’s which means Jones would have to prove he’s deserving of the starting job. Especially considering the Giants will most likely have two Top 10 picks in next year’s draft.
If Jones’s neck keeps him out for the remainder of the season then there goes his opportunity to prevent a rookie from coming in to compete. If Jones ended the year dominating then the new GM might consider drafting an offensive lineman and a pass rusher to help Jones.
But now that Jones is spending work hours hanging with the spine doc, it’s a wrap for any job security he could’ve obtained.
And what if the Giants outright cut him? Who is rushing to sign the Giants’s trash with the bad SPINE?
Now we have to finish this terrible year watching Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm. Please fire everyone, yesterday.
