This has been a huge year for Daniel Jones and the New York Football Giants. The entire trajectory of the team has been altered thanks to the transcendent play of Danny Dimes despite the NFL media being the last to recognize how great he’s played. Unfortunately, in order to express how great Jones has been, people have dunked on the weapons around him including 2nd-year wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins.
Giants fans have had no problem declaring that Daniel Jones carried this team on his own with BUMS at wide receiver and they’re not completely wrong. The highest-paid player on the team, Kenny Golladay, caught 6 passes for 81 yards. And those stats aren’t from one random game against the Commanders. 6 catches for 81 yards ALL SEASON.
Richie James and Darius Slayton led the team in catches and yards respectively. Neither of these two are anywhere near household names or deserving of any Pro Bowl votes. But it was the underrated midseason addition of Isaiah Hodgins that changed the game.

Isaiah Hodgins became a star this weekend. Here’s what he did against the Minnesota Vikings to help the Giants advance to the next round of the playoffs:
- 8 receptions
- 105 yards
- 1 touchdown
He literally outplayed Justin Jefferson who is most likely going to win Offensive Player of the Year. Bro, look at this catch on the sideline.
Isaiah Hodgins is not a burner, but don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s just a possession WR.
His route running has been phenomenal w/ the #Giants
and he’s shown that on tape at all three levels.

It’s also worth noting this big game happened against Patrick Peterson—a 2-time All-Pro and 8-time All-Star in the biggest game of Hodgin’s career thus far. He displayed his ability to run fantastic routes including the chemistry with Jones to be able to know exactly where to be when Danny Dimes starts to bootleg out of the pocket thus easing Jones from panicking and chucking it into the chest of a cornerback.
Hodgins also showed off his hands snagging a pass that would’ve bounced off the hands of someone like Darius Slayton. Hodgin’s play this weekend was so impressive that it just got his quarterback a MASSIVE bag in the offseason.
Next weekend’s showdown against the Eagles will be a real test as he faces off against former-Giant, James Bradberry. Hodgins just had the best game of his career in his playoff debut. He might transform to a whole new level in the Divisional Round.
Or, perhaps I’m just exaggerating because prior to this game, I was watching Golladay run routes with zero separation from his defenders and guys like Marcus Johnson get way too many targets considering how he should 1000% be working the concessions at the stadium and not out there on the field trying to convert third downs.
Either way, let’s all put some respect on Isaiah Hodgins’s name. He is the secret weapon for the Giants winning the Super Bowl this year.
