Biggest storyline of the season
This might be the first you’re hearing this so brace yourself: Ben Simmons doesn’t want to be on the 76ers anymore. It’s difficult to pick a side in this fight. On one side, we saw Ben Simmons break a postseason record for the worst free throw percentage ever. We saw him pass up an open dunk over Trae Young to pass it because he was afraid to even look at the basket.

On the other side, Doc Rivers and Joel Embiid both shit on Ben every single time they had a microphone in front of them. Sure, they were just being honest and that’s cool and all but when you fail at work, you don’t want your coworkers all telling everyone that you suck and they don’t need you.

Key Players
Joel Embiid: If the 76ers can still maintain their place at the top of the Eastern Conference, it’s going to be impossible to not reward Embiid with more MVP votes. Who’s the 2nd best player on this team if Simmons isn’t playing? Tobias Harris? lol.
Tobias Harris: Ben may have had the most blatant playoff struggles but let’s not forget that Tobias shot 8-for-24 in Philly’s Game 7 loss to the Hawks. If Simmons is gone, prepare to see a lot more eyes on Tobias’s bricks.
Seth Curry: On the other end of the Tobias coin, Steph’s brother averaged 18.8 points in the postseason and shot 50% from 3. He’s going to have a lot more space out there without Ben Simmons awkwardly standing next to him.
Andre Drummond: He’s a phenomenal rebounder and a terrible everything else-er.

How the 76ers can win the title
The 76ers need to be patient and hold onto Simmons until players that were signed in the offseason are eligible to be traded because that opens a whole new pool of trade opportunities for them. Team president, Daryl Morey, has already said he doesn’t want role players back so if he wants a solid starter, it’s going to be at the deadline. Imagine they FINALLY get a real point guard to play with Joel Embiid?? 76ers in 4.
