Cleveland Browns Finally Draft Shedeur Sanders in the Fifth Round

It felt like Shedeur Sanders went from a guaranteed lock as a Top 5 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft—to falling out of the first round—to looking as if the quarterback wouldn’t be selected at all.

But the Cleveland Browns swooped in and saved Shedeur Sanders from further embarrassment by selecting him in the fifth round with the No. 144 overall draft pick.

It’s over. It’s finally over. We no longer need to boycott the NFL for blackballing Shedeur and we don’t need to spend any more oxygen hyperventilating as you scream for the firings of all 32 NFL GMs for not dropping everything to select the future 10-time Super Bowl MVP QB, Shedeur Sanders.

What’s next for the Cleveland Browns and Shedeur Sanders?

Shedeur now joins an interesting Cleveland QB room.

• Deshaun Watson—recovering from a torn Achilles.
• Joe Flacco—a 40-year-old who lost his last job to Anthony Richardson—a quarterback who doesn’t know how to play quarterback.
• Kenny Pickett—coming off a Super Bowl run as Jalen Hurts’s backup but elected to go join an organization where he thought he could get a chance to prove he’s still a starter (he’s not).
• Dillon Gabriel—a 24-year-old QB Cleveland drafted yesterday.
• Shedeur Sanders—whose entire football career has been carefully curated and molded and managed by his father, Deion Sanders, to the point Shedeur was unprofessional in his pre-draft meetings because he believed his dad’s hype.

Shedeur Sanders will be entering the Thunder Dome this year, competing with a group of misfit toys in hopes of achieving his father’s dreams.
