Earlier this week, I declared I was becoming a Georgetown basketball fan. I cannot allow this historic program to sink into the Earth’s crust unnoticed. At the time, Georgetown had just lost their 26th consecutive Big East game. After their 51-66 L to Seton Hall, that is now 27 straight losses.
Yike.
Georgetown and Seton Hall were tied 27-27 at halftime. The Hoyas somehow found a way to lose by 14. It probably has a lot to do with Seton Hall senior guard, Al-Amir Dawes scoring 21 of his career-high 24 points all in the second half of the game.

At one point in this game, Dawes singlehandedly went on an 11-0 run when the game was tied up at 32. The game was no longer tied, if you can imagine.
As a Georgetown Hoya fan for the last 24 hours, I can say with complete confidence that this loss was a fluke.
A kid got hot and there was really nothing anyone could do about it. Sure, you can make the argument that Patrick Ewing should’ve tried to double-team him or perhaps attack him on the offensive end in hopes of getting him in foul trouble and off the court entirely but shrug. Sometimes someone is in the zone and well…shrug.
You also aren’t going to win many games shooting 16% from 3 but hey, our guys got cold and theirs got hot. Shake it off and we’ll try again this Monday against Villanova.
