The big debate amongst Giants fans this season is what to do with Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley when the year is done. Both players need new contracts and there is uncertainty regarding how much money they deserve after just ONE good season following several years of mediocrity.

But after the Giants win against the Washington Commanders on Sunday night, it was made extremely clear that there is only one player on that roster that deserves all the money and attention in the world: Kayvon Thibodeaux.

The New York Giants beat Washington 20-12 thanks to the complete dominance of rookie pass rusher, Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Here’s what Thibodeaux did against Washington:

  • 12 tackles
  • 3 tackles for a loss
  • 1 sack
  • 1 QB hit
  • 1 fumble recovery
  • 1 touchdown

It’s worth noting that Kayvon now has more touchdowns this season than wide receiver, Kenny Golladay, who makes $72 million. Thibodeaux was named the Defensive Player of the Week. Kenny Golladay was a healthy scratch. Interesting.

Kayvon Thibodeaux is the most dynamic and game-altering defensive playmaker the Giants have had since their old Super Bowl runs with Michael Strahan and Jason Pierre-Paul.

Having a star pass rusher is the ultimate cheat code to winning NFL games. It makes your secondary irrelevant when you have a pass rusher back there bodyslamming the QB every play and limiting his opportunities to even look down the field and see if any receivers are open.

Thibodeaux’s ability to generate sacks and tackles for losses is also huge for putting the Giants in great field position. If the opposing team is always punting on 4th and long then Daniel Jones can jog into easier scoring situations which lessens his load and stress.

You also have to factor in the vibes:

Immaculate vibes. This is Michael Strahan smiling through his gapped teeth level of energy the Giants desperately need instead of their previous sad Eeyore ‘aw shucks, we lost again’ energy that filled the building under Ben McAdoo, Pat Shurmur and Joe Judge. The trifecta of bad vibes. Nightmare blunt rotation.

The entire New York Giants offseason should be dedicated to making life easier for Kayvon Thibodeaux. Whether that means acquiring another pass rusher to reduce his double teams or a lockdown corner that’ll buy Thibodeaux more time to get to the quarterback but the number one priority needs to be Kayvon.

Sure, you can franchise tag Saquon or Daniel Jones or whatever but who cares? Kayvon Thibodeaux is far and away the best player on the Giants and should be given the best parking spot, nicest locker, control of the aux in the locker room and bags of cash after every game.
