Kadarius Toney Could Unlock a New Level for the Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City just stole their new secret weapon

kadarius toney

The Kansas City Chiefs acquired 2nd-year wide receiver, Kadarius Toney, from the New York Giants in exchange for a 3rd and 6th round draft pick. Toney was selected no. 20 overall and has played a grand total of 12 games out of a possible 24 mainly because he’s been nursing injuries.

In his brief playing career, he has shown flashes of greatness. Last year, he broke the Giants single-game rookie receiving record with 189 yards against the Cowboys. That doesn’t just happen accidentally.

Just a pro tip for all NFL organizations: you want to acquire guys who make defenders look like they are make-a-wish kids.

Sure, you can say to yourself that the Chiefs already lead the NFL in points and passing yards. Why would they even need Toney?

First of all, it’s never a bad thing to have more talented players on your roster. Especially when they are on a cheaper rookie contract and you don’t have to pay them anytime soon.

Kansas City has a strong receiver group but outside of Travis Kelce, I wouldn’t categorize any of them as real ‘game changers’. With Tyreek Hill balling in Miami, Patrick Mahomes needs a guy he can just give the ball to and watch do amazing shit.

Kadarius Toney also gives Andy Reid some new potential play calls. We all know Andy Reid likes to get cute with his little trick plays. Okay, well now they have a player who can run jet sweeps or screens or whatever gadget play Reid can concoct.

I should also admit I am extremely biased and have full faith in anyone who has ever worn a Giants jersey. Toney is often injured and uh, he might not be all the way there mentally but hey, that describes literally all of the best wide receivers ever. They are usually limping and often crazy. That’s a star in the making.

Asa far as the Giants side goes, I love the idea of this team deciding they have no need for any receivers. It’s Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley vs. everyone. No need to have any targets outside. Jones is just going to scramble for every first down anyway.

It’s very possible the Chiefs and Giants see each other in the Super Bowl. One time has the most prolific passing attack ever and the other has a wide receiver room full of accountants and custodians.

Giants in 4.
