Two years ago, a storybook ending for the Hall of Fame tight end. A Super Bowl trophy and a girlfriend who takes a private jet from her from front door to her mailbox at the end of her driveway.

One year ago, a Super Bowl loss but a Super Bowl appearance nonetheless. He and Taylor Swift could’ve rode off into the sunset, maybe a Netflix docuseries about their mundane, faux-silly life.

Right now, Travis Kelce is a free agent following a disappointing Kansas City Chiefs season, a 6-11 finish, the team missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

The Chiefs just traded away 25-year old All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie. With the team feeling strangled by the salary cap and a 6-win season highlighted by a season-ending Patrick Mahomes injury, this offseason is about the acquisition of young, cheap talent with high upside, not aging pop star muses in cop cosplay.

3 Teams That Should Sign Travis Kelce

Despite the rumors of Travis Kelce being washed, the old man ranked 4th amongst NFL tight ends with 851 receiving yards,

Kelce forced 9 missed tackles in the regular season, literally 3 times his total in 2024. He is still a Top 5 tight end with at least one more season of top tier production in his bones, especially in a modern NFL where tight ends are used as extra pass protection against a growing gap between pass rushers’ athleticism and talent and offensive linemen’s ability to stop them.

So where should he play next season?

1. New York Giants: Theo Johnson had the best Giants tight end season in years and was the 20th-ranked at his position. With Dart’s desire to play in the pocket to give receivers time to get open, Travis Kelce is the perfect zone buster to slip right behind linebackers and nickel corners for quick firsts on thirds.

2. Tennessee Titans: There is nothing Travis Kelce would love more than moving to Tennessee, pretending to be a cowboy, getting drunk with Jellyroll and Shaboozy at parties where Tate McRae is begging Taylor Swift to do bumps with her.

3. Green Bay Packers: With the addition of Zaire Franklin, the 2025 NFL leader in sacks, and the awaited return of Micah Parsons from his season-ending injury, the Green Bay Packers are all in. Jordan Love will need all the help he can get. Travis Kelce could singlehandedly prevent Jordan Love from slipping into his habit of shrinking in moments when he should be elevating to superstar, State Farm insurance famous-level of ball.
