In 2023, the Baltimore Orioles won 101 games (their first time winning 100+ games since 1980), then lost in the ALDS to the Texas Rangers.

In 2024, the Baltimore Orioles won 91 games and then lost in the Wild Card Series to the Kansas City Royals.

Last season, the Baltimore Orioles finished 75-87—last place in the division, manager fired—hell.

First baseman Pete Alonso and the Baltimore Orioles are finalizing a five-year, $155 million contract, sources told ESPN‘s Jeff Passan on Wednesday.

And now, they’re hitting the grocery store, refilling the fridge with one of the biggest bats in the sport.

Pete Alonso is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, batting .272 (a career-high) with 38 homers, 126 RBIs and a 144 OPS+.

Last season, Baltimore’s offense ranked 19th in slugging. Pete Alonso raises the ceiling day one.

Not only do the Orioles land one of the most lethal hitters, but they keep Pete Alonso away from the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

Plus, Alonso fits right into Baltimore’s “whites only” policy, Orioles execs goosestepping across Camden Yards in plain sight.

What’s next for the Mets?

In two days, the New York Mets have lost closer Edwin Diaz to the Los Angeles Dodgers and now Pete Alonso to the Baltimore Orioles.

That’s a week after trading OF Brandon Nimmo to the Texas Rangers for INF Marcus Semien.

The Mets 2025 ended worse than former Michigan head coach, Sherrone Moore’s. (I’m writing this before all the details come out, but to continue the Mets comparison, Francisco Lindor was Moore with the knife and Jeff McNeil was Moore’s wife.)

David Stearns alluded to culture change, driving all Mets core players to LaGuardia.

The team already signed Devin Williams as their closer. Stearns had no intentions of bringing Edwin Diaz back.

Pete Alonso was on a 1-year deal with a player option because Stearns never intended to pay Alonso big money long-term.

This was all a part of the scheme.

Trading the farm system for an Alonso replacement, a fool’s Mona Lisa.

Doesn’t Alex Bregman just feel like the perfect Met? He was born to wear the summer sherbet unis.

Alex Bregman to the New York Mets. Book it. I will now accept the billions of dollars Kalashi has for no reason.
