The return of Donald Trump. Is racism back? Israel letting the choppa go blocka blocka on the Middle East. An economy devastated by random tariffs, price gauges and an AI bubble that cannot wait to pop. Mass layoffs. Gutting of the healthcare system and all social safety nets. Masked unhireables snatching tias from the local bodega.

Still, no one had a worse 2025 than the New York Mets.

On June 12th, the Mets had a 45–24 record—the best record in MLB, with 96.2% odds to make the playoffs,

Multiple 7+ game losing streaks later—they finished 38–55 the rest of the way and endured three separate losing streaks of seven or more games.

One of the worst collapses in baseball history.

In a new report from Mike Puma at the New York Post, it looks like All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor may be at the core of this team’s rot.

Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil had a heated confrontation last season, just the latest friction between teammates in what has been a turbulent Mets relationship.

After a defensive lapse on June 20 in Philadelphia, an angry Lindor at some point began verbally attacking McNeil, according to a source, leading to what was described as a tense standoff between the two. The Mets lost their seventh straight that night—an initial stretch of futility that indicated maybe something was amiss with a team that had surged a season-high 21 games over .500 just over a week earlier.

“A play didn’t get made and that pissed [Lindor] off”, a source who was nearby the confrontation said.

Shout out to the homie who sent me his NY Sports Plus login. Sometimes I feel like a sicko, consuming and writing about all this slop but there are people far deeper down the rabbit hole than I. Those with New York Post Sports Plus logins. Thank you to the distinguished gentlemen helping me keep the lights on around here.

It’s a long season. Teammates get frustrated with each other. But this isn’t even the first time Francisco Lindor attacked Jeff McNeil.

Early in the 2021 season, Francisco Lindor grabbed McNeil by the throat in the tunnel.

Francisco does not fuck with Jeff.

Not even a little bit.

This would explain why the Mets acquired Marcus Semien, whose Gold Glove will save him from Lindor’s wrath, and who approaches the game like a true professional.

Trade Grades: St. Louis Sends Sonny Gray To Boston

Why is this story even coming out?

The Mets traded away Brandon Nimmo last week. Pete Alonso is most likely playing elsewhere next season. The Mets front office wants to break up the core of this team, a core they believe doesn’t take their job seriously enough.

This story leaked to manufacture consent from the fanbase to send out all their longest tenured players. Throw mud on their names, tricking fans into celebrating the departures of their faves.

At first, I thought this story was meant to make Mets fans cheer for a Jeff McNeil trade but Mike Puma had more smoke for Francisco Lindor, this time detailing an icy relationship between Lindor and Juan Soto.

Another clubhouse source indicated that relations between Lindor and Soto were chilly, following the latter’s arrival on a record $765 million contract.

“Soto is very businesslike—all business, no fluff, ” the source said. “He wants to come to the yard and work his tail off and win games. He’s not into fashion or any of that other stuff. Lindor is into that. It’s just two different personalities.”

There are questions over who exactly was leading the team. Lindor, who has often been identified as potential captain material, seemed to lose some of his grasp of the clubhouse.

“He’s not into fashion or any of that other stuff. Lindor is into that”.

I know when an old white executive is pouring tea into a local reporter’s cup.

Lindor has 4 consecutive Top-10 MVP seasons and this story makes him sound like a self-centered asshole, embarrassing his teammates when they make mistakes—jealous of Soto’s big contract, pissed he doesn’t want to do fashion with him.

Should the Mets trade Francisco Lindor?

Thinking nothing of what win-now, current All-Stars the Mets could acquire for Francisco Lindor, this is more of a question of “is Francisco Lindor an asshole?”

He’s hit 30+ homers in 3 straight seasons. You don’t trade that type of talent away, at only 32 years old, following a fully healthy season, unless you are certain he brings weirdo vibes to the workplace.

If Juan Soto and Marcus Semien are these hard-hat employees who just want to stat-mine and go home, while Lindor is an emotional wreck, his coworkers walk on eggshells around, then yea, perhaps he needs a change of scenery and a shake-up out of his comfort zone.

I think Francisco Lindor is sick with it. The League would be more interesting if he were helping out one of the smaller market teams, a team that doesn’t just tolerate him but fully embraces and welcomes all of him, including his interest in fashion.

I don’t want my guy trapped in a work environment where all his coworkers transferred to a different city and now he’s surrounded by new-hires who don’t want to smoke hookah with him after the games.

Go find your happy hour, Francisco. Texas has a robust Latin community. Turn up.

Corey Seager would look good in a Mets uni, man.

Thanks for reading. Let me know if you think the Mets should move on from Francisco Lindor. Or even better, reach out and send some of your Mets takes and I’ll tap in and write about it. Hit up ya boy on social media: FacebookTwitterBluesky. Instagram.
