Andrew Wiggins, Sage Steele and Pretending To Have Principles

andrew wiggins sage steele

When NBA vaccination discourse dominated the internet last week, Andrew Wiggins was one of the big name players who refused to be vaccinated because of private personal reasons or some bullshit. he was adamantly against getting this free medicine despite playing in San Francisco where he would literally not be allowed in the stadium without a vaccination.

Fast forward a week a suddenlyyyyyy the man standing up for freedom or whatever is magically vaccinated now and ready for opening night with the Warriors.

Here’s what Drew had to say about his sudden change of heart:

“The only options were to get vaccinated or not play in the NBA. It was a tough decision. Hopefully, it works out in the long run and in 10 years I’m still healthy. “They didn’t make the rule,” Wiggins said. “But I guess to do certain stuff, to work, I guess you don’t own your body. That’s what it comes down to. If you want to work in society today, then I guess they made the rules of what goes in your body and what you do. Hopefully, there’s a lot of people out there that are stronger than me and keep fighting, stand for what they believe, and hopefully, it works out for them.”

Lol.

Let us pray that Andrew Wiggins is still healthy in 10 years after taking this vital medicine that was mandated in order to *checks notes* stay healthy in 10 years.

Love the fear of the vaccine because of fear of the long term effects whilst simultaneously ignoring that we have no idea what the long term effects are of CORONAVIRUS. Motherfuckers lost their senses of taste and smell. They’ve developed brand new heart and respiratory conditions.

And now lets look at the side effects of the Vaccine that has been in circulation since January 2020: Oh, everyone is just back to normal with no complications.

But yea, lets just keep doing our ‘own research’ until we find one random story about one random guy getting sick from the vaccine and focus on that one outlier until we convince ourselves that that is the rule and not the exception.

Anyway, lol at Andrew Wiggins standing firm on his beliefs until he couldn’t play basketball anymore so he turned his back on his beliefs. It’s almost as if he didn’t have any real principles at all and was simply afraid which is totally fine and acceptable and allowed but don’t pretend like it’s some fight for freedom when it’s literally you just being ignorant to what a vaccine is and that ignorance leading to fear.

Can’t wait to watch you score 22 of the most meaningless points every night this season.

ESPN’s Sage Steele has positioned herself as the contrarian anti-woke black woman at the network who stands up for what’s right and true and won’t be silenced.

She went on Jay Cutler’s podcast—real quick apparently Jay Cutler has a corny right wing podcast despite being known for having absolutely no personality or strong opinions on anything—anyway Sage said some dumb shit completely unprovoked.

Here she is making fun of Barack Obama identifying as black even though his mom was white and his dad wasn’t really around. Sage Steele wants to be liked by white people so badly that she’s doing open mic night level racist jokes about Obama.

She also went on to complain about vaccine mandates much like our pal Andrew Wiggins. Oh, and she said how much she respect conservative and ‘one of the good ones’ Candace Owens.

Wait, I almost forgot the point where she blamed women journalists for their part in being sexually harassed by players in locker rooms. She really hit Jay Cutler with the ‘look at what they’re wearing’. Absolving men of their participation in harassing women and putting the blame on the victims is so obviously an attempt to get guys to think you’re the cool girl and be a contrarian shock jock.

This asshole is 48 years old. Almost 50. She wants to be in this lane and align herself with Jason Whitlock then go for it, sweetie.

Except she was taken off the air and immediately issued an apology:

“I know my recent comments created controversy for the company, and I apologize. We are in the midst of an extremely challenging time that impacts all of us, and it’s more critical than ever that we communicate constructively and thoughtfully.”

Cute little apology, Sage. You almost had me convinced that you actually believed in what you were saying and disliked ESPN’s policies so much that you were willing to publically go out and declare it.

Only to apologize the next day and beg to keep your job from the same company you despise so much. The wokeness that you find to be so silly yet you are more than willing to maintain your position at the woke company that sucks.

Congratulations to all the right-wing losers that applauded Andrew Wiggins and Sage Steele for standing up for themselves and sticking to their principles only for Drew and Sage to backtrack when their bank accounts were almost negatively affected by their stupid thoughts.

These people don’t have principles. They do not believe in anything. They want to be different. They want to feel special.

But when it’s time for their beliefs to be truly tested they back down because they aren’t standing up for anything.

You can say that being forced to apologize or being forced to be vaccinated actually proves their point. Andrew Wiggins has to play basketball and there’s no bigger league than the NBA. Sage Steele has to keep her job at ESPN.

But that’s not how ‘freedom’ works. That’s not how protest works. I think Kyrie is a fucking loser for refusing to get the vaccine but he seems more than willing to not play in the NBA this year. He seems totally okay with forfeiting his contract because he believes in something.

Are we going to pretend like Sage Steele can’t easily get a job at Fox News or with Clay Travis? There’s plenty of money for self-hating black conservatives. She didn’t have to apologize.

Everyone wants to feel special. Just take the medicine to help the people around you. Stop being edgy for the sake of being edgy and crying ‘cancelled’ when you don’t actually care about anything.

Fucking weirdos.
