John Wall and the Houston Rockets have agreed that no one wants John Wall on the Houston Rockets. The problem is, he’s the 2nd highest paid player in the NBA and has been unable to play more than 42 games in a season since 2016.
The 31-year old 5-time All-Star still makes an impact on the floor. Last season, Wall averaged 20.6 points and 6.9 assists on a Rockets team full of G-Leaguers. But again, he still can’t stay on the court. Do you know how hard it was to find a photo of this man in a Rockets jersey??
Anyway, here are 5 teams that should trade for John Wall:
1. Oklahoma City Thunder
Thunder GM, Sam Presti, is foaming at the mouth right now at the thought of receiving more first round draft picks. Every night he lays his head on the pillow thinking about how he can bring in more first round draft picks. If Houston wants to move that terrible contract, they’ll probably need to attach a first rounder which means Presti is calling.
2. Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs certainly don’t need another point guard on the roster with Collin Sexton and Darius Garland getting better and better every season but there’s a dark cloud in their locker room soaking up their entire salary cap and just being an out of shape asshole every time he steps onto the court.
Swap John Wall and Kevin Love. He clearly hates all of the young guys on Cleveland so it would be hilarious to see him get pissed at Kevin Porter Jr chucking up shots the moment he crosses midcourt. Do it for the memes.
3. Dallas Mavericks
What Dallas desperately needs is another ball-handler to create his own shot. Luka Doncic alone vs. the entire Los Angeles Clippers team every year is going to cut that kid’s career short. He’s surrounded by statues in Tim Hardaway and Kristaps Porzingis who completely rely on Luka to open up space for them but no one of that roster can score without Luka.
We’ve read the stories about how Jason Kidd terrorized the Bucks and Giannis specifically. You have to bring in John Wall to take the heat off Luka or else Kidd will try to embarrass Doncic just to make himself ‘look’ like a tough coach but in reality he’s only going to alienate his star. John Wall can be the buffer to take Kidd’s wrath. Wall does not seem like a guy who gives any shits about what Jason Kidd will have to say about his game.
4. Washington Wizards
Yo, can you imagine Bradley Beal getting an opportunity to play with a dynamic point guard like John Wall?? Just think of all the championship parades in DC.
5. Philadelphia 76ers
Ben Simmons is ignoring the Sixers phone calls and the Sixers are changing the locks to the facility and giving everyone on the team new keys except Ben Simmons. Give Ben the chance to run a young squad in Houston. They would win like, 16 games, but I don’t even think Simmons gives a shit. He’d still get his annual All-Star selection and whatever contract bonus money that entails.
Philadelphia has needed a real point guard to play with Joel Embiid and this is their chance. Sure, Wall isn’t much of a 3-point shooter but Ben Simmons is quite literally not a 3-point shooter. Wall shooting 31% from the perimeter is fine compared to the 0% he’d be replacing.
