Prior to this season, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler went on TV and said the sources told him that this was this season opposing teams finally figure out Lamar Jackson.
Here’s a quick clip from the Ravens Monday night victory over the Indianapolis Colts:
Lamar Jackson was nothing short of incredible tonight:
-37/43 passing, 442 yards, 4 touchdowns
-86% completion
-14 rushes, 62 yards— Dalton Pence (@dpence_) October 12, 2021
“The league has figured Lamar Jackson out” lololololol.
They said that Lamar couldn’t bring his team back from a deficit because his offense is so dependent on rushing the ball and he can’t stand in the pocket and lead a comeback.
On Monday night, Lamar came back down 19 points in the second half to secure a 31-25 victory in OT. He ended the game with 504 total yards. We just witnessed one of the greatest quarterback performances in NFL history.
He’s the first quarterback in NFL history to complete 85% of his passes in a 400+ yard game. Also the first QB in NFL history to throw for 400 yards, 4 touchdowns, run for 50 yards and throw 0 interceptions.
King shit.
At no point did I ever believe that Lamar would evolve into a perennial MVP candidate but it’s impossible to not root for his success when every single year people attempt to discredit him.
The same people who lose their minds on Twitter whenever he breaks off a huge run are the same people quietly waiting for him to turn the ball over or stink it up in the playoffs just so they can feel good about their original doubts about him.
When Patrick Mahomes just showed up one day and dominated the league in 2018, everyone was willing to drop everything and declare him the most talented quarterback their eyes had ever witnessed.
Lamar Jackson won the MVP award the very next season and everyone yawned and put a microscope over all of his flaws while downplaying the amazing things he can do when a football is placed into his palms.
Keep an eye on how fast the media will be in crowning Justin Herbert as a Top 5 quarterback in the league while continuing to find reasons to reduce Lamar Jackson to just a running quarterback. They won’t even try to hide it.
Lamar is the 2nd best quarterback this year behind Kyler Murray or Tom Brady. Let’s all discuss him in this context going forward.
