Jets Receive:

  • QB Geno Smith
  • 7th round pick

Raiders Receive:

  • 6th round pick

Jets Grade: D+

Time is a flat circle. Everything that shall happen, already has.

War in the Middle East, Britney Spears battling for custody of Britney Spears, Geno Smith on the Jets.

How are Jets fans supposed to peel themselves up from the dirt watching Geno Smith, back in the Gotham Greens, last worn in the medical room after his teammate punched his jaw on the floor like the MGM wolf seeing a baddie walk into the club?

Geno Smith is better than Justin Fields, sure, every quarterback available right now is. And they don’t come with any of Geno’s baggage.

The Raiders gave Geno the keys and all season, his emotions ran out of control, arguing with civilians in the 300s, throwing darts into linebackers’ chest pads.

The Jets are catching Geno Smith at the tail end of his middling career, confidence absent, thrown out of Vegas card counting.

However, this isn’t a complete F.

If Geno, without the worst offensive line in the NFL in front of him, can navigate a semi-legible Jets offense, he can provide the front office a clearer vision of what types of players they lack. The Jets wasted a season with Brady Cook out there. No one can assess that offense. By Week 17, they were playing a different sport.

Plus, Geno makes the Jets frontrunners for their own Manning QB next draft.

This shall be renamed, the Arch Manning trade.

Raiders Grade: B

Typically, I’d dish out an A for turning the league leader in interceptions into a 6th round pick instead of a dead cap hit—but the Raiders traded a 3rd round pick to acquire that league leader in interceptions.

I imagine the team still would’ve sucked with or without Geno Smith. Las Vegas lit a 3rd pick on fire just to hear it scream.

Fernando Mendoza is coming—no point in Geno on the bench pouting.

All remnants from the pre-Brady/Spytek era must be shed. Maxx Crosby enjoy your time in Baltimore.

Nevermind, Maxx. They don’t want ya.

Who knows, maybe that 6th round pick they get from the Jets grows into a QB who leads the NFL in interceptions one day, like Geno Smith in 2025.
