The New York Giants are 2-5 on the season. They aren’t good at football. But there are reports this week that teams are interested in acquiring their tight end, Evan Engram, and there should be absolutely nothing stopping this team for giving away anyone in order to gain future assets to build an actual good roster in the future.
Evan Engram was never once a good tight end. He’s not a good enough blocker to play tight end and his brick hands make him completely unreliable as a wide receiver. Engram has led all NFL tight ends in drops TWICE in his career.
Last season he led all tight ends with drops and still managed to sneak onto a Pro Bowl team somehow. It’s why teams are interested in him despite his uselessness in the Giants offense—an offense that is desperate for ANYONE to step up and make plays.
Engram has 20 catches on 29 targets this season for 171 yards and zero touchdowns. Dope. Real difference-maker out there.
The Giants have a total of 13 turnovers on offense this year. Evan Engram has been involved in 5 of them. 4 targets on INT’s out of Jones’ 7 total INT’s & 1 fumble. If you ask me, he has been involved in 6 turnovers this year b/c I count the 3rd down drop in Philly as a turnover. pic.twitter.com/pH7wMok5RU

If teams are genuinely interested in this bum, there is no reason why the Giants should be holding onto him.
The value of draft picks is that they give your team much-needed depth as you can see this season as it seems like every starter for this team is on injured reserve. They’re also the cheapest players in the NFL and you have financial control over there for their entire first contract.
New York can easily trade Engram for a pick and use that pick to select a tight end who could easily provide the Giants with 171 fucking yards.
But Dave Gettleman is still the GM of this team which means he will give Evan Engram a huge contract and immediately trade him for a backup D-lineman and Engram’s dead cap hit will prevent the team from participating in free agency. So it goes.
