The One Extremely Concerning Thing About Jalen Hurts After He Became The Highest Paid Player in NFL History

This week, Jalen Hurts became the highest-paid player in the NFL after signing a 5-year $255 million contract extension, including $110 million guaranteed upon signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Somehow, his annual salary breaks down in a way that is super generous to Philadelphia’s cap space. People are constantly giving GM Howie Roseman all of his flowers for his team-building ability. Good for him. As a Giants fan, the best I can do is a silent head nod acknowledgment.

But the 24-year-old has earned every single penny of that deal after he carried the Eagles to the Super Bowl one QB sneak at a time. When training camp begins, we’re all going to look around the NFC and realize Jalen Hurts is the best quarterback in the conference.

And while everyone wanted to turn this contract signing into a debate on what Lamar Jackson deserves because the NFL media literally has nothing else to talk about until the Draft, Jalen Hurts quietly had surgery to remove hardware that was installed after he suffered a high ankle sprain in 2018 playing against the University of Tennesee.

Hurts will probably be fine when the season starts and by all accounts, it was a small minor procedure. But there is something far scarier happening in Jalen’s life that the Eagles need to keep an eye on.

Apparently, Jalen Hurts and Deshaun Watson are besties. Now, I’m all for standing by your friends through tough times or whatever but when you’re Hurts and everyone praises you for building a support/management team consisting entirely of women, the fuck are you doing being buddy-buddy with the dude who is addicted to tricking female massage therapists into touching his little wee wee.

I don’t have a ton of friends which shouldn’t shock anyone. I sit in front of a computer all day while I watch 90-Day Fiance re-runs. But if one of my few friends were in the news every day for manipulating masseuses into jerking him off, I’d probably leave their texts on read.

Sometimes people who are capable of compartmentalizing their friend’s behavior are just as dangerous as their shitty friends. I’m not accusing Jalen Hurts of anything but damn, can’t you hang out with literally ANY of the 52 other guys on the Eagles and not the Cleveland pervert?

I suppose I just hope Jalen is the great guy everyone believes he is and he doesn’t pull a Jonathan Majors on us.

Deshaun also had something interesting to say about another star black QB. Here’s what Deshaun Watson said this week about Lamar Jackson and his contract situation:

“I reach out to Lamar all the time. We talk through texts, through Instagram. We don’t really talk about the business side because that’s his space, that’s his privacy. From the outside looking in, I hope he gets what he wants. Like I said, I never talk to him about it, so I can’t speak on his business side, but he’s a great player and he’s going to be, if he’s back in Baltimore, he’s going to be special for them.

“And if it’s somewhere else, then he’s going to be special for that organization. He’s a talent that the NFL needs and we love to see him and watch him play unless we’re playing against him. But I hope he gets what he wants and what he deserves. I think he deserves everything — all of it.”

Every Deshaun Watson quote amazes me. He seems entirely absent of self-awareness. The man still denies any wrongdoing with the 30+ women he HAD TO PAY because he could not stop himself from DMing private massage therapists, lying to them about wanting a regular sports massage and then used his celebrity to pressure them into watching him jizz on himself.

Is Deshaun aware that Lamar and the Ravens can’t come to a contract agreement because he stole a massive deal from the Browns that was all guaranteed so that when he was inevitably suspended, the NFL couldn’t fine him that much because his base salary was so low?

I guess my point is—and I’ve said this before and I’m sure I’ll say it again later—Fuck Deshaun Watson.
