Scottie Pippen is currently on a drunk bender that landed him a guest spot on the Dan Patrick Show where he decided to randomly declare that Phil Jackson is racist for some reason.
DP: “.. By saying it was a racial move then you’re calling Phil Jackson a racist…”
Pippen: “I don’t have a problem with that.”
DP: “Do you think Phil was?”
Pippen: “Oh yeah…”

There’s a lot to unpack here.
First and foremost, my man Scottie Pippen is down tremendously bad. This year he suffered the tragedy of losing his oldest son. Pippen also lost his wife this year to the streets. Imagine trying to discuss an NBA game and half of the 20-something year olds have been photographed holding hands with your wife walking into a hotel at 1am.
Now, he’s on a press tour looking and speaking as if he hasn’t slept in weeks and is living off tequila and pills.
So perhaps he’s not the best messenger to tell us that Phil Jackson is racist and perhaps he wasn’t able to articulate his point correctly but let’s make one thing clear: Phil Jackson is racist.
Phil Jackson has published books in which he’s written the laziest racial stereotypes as declarative facts that had been supported by decades of research.
“Black kids growing up want to be the superstar of their neighborhood. They want to be the toughest kids on the block, the richest or, once they get to the playground, the best one-on-one basketball players. White ids, on the other hand, usually are raised in a more homogeneous environment which provides other outlets for personal expression. They’re also constantly being taught the principle of subordinating their own personal glory for the good of the group”
It’s okay if you can’t get past this motherfuckers comma addictions and run-on sentences.
Essentially, this racist is saying that black people are selfish and play the ‘wrong’ way because they grow up desiring money while white kids play the right way because they are raised correctly.
It’s a lazy observation from a man who should have spent enough time with black people enough to know these shitty takes aren’t true but because he’s racist, he never integrated and treated black people as equals enough to actually learn about them.
Instead, he always looked down on them and here’s the explanation he created in his head to rationalize his distaste for an entire group of people. And by the way, this group of people is entirely responsible for his success and this bum would still be coaching in the fucking Mexican leagues getting paid in fast food vouchers.
Have you been around white people in the last year? Every other word out of their mouths is dogecoin or Robinhood or some awful stock tip. I promise you, black people are not the only ones growing up in environments where they are focused on becoming the richest.
Maybe we live in capitalism where EVERYONE wants to be rich and the “homogeneous environment which provides other outlets for personal expression” that Jackson claims white people grow up in exists because their parents have had far more time in this country to create generational wealth and having money allows kids to think about things outside of getting money because, ya know, they can just ask ma or pa.
The best passer of all time is Magic Johnson. Fuck Phil Jackson and anyone who read his book and shook their heads like ‘hm, good point. good point’.
But Phil’s book came out a very long time ago. Let’s use that excuse.
Here’s a cute Phil Jackson quote from 2005 regarding his thoughts on the new NBA dress code:
“I think it’s important that the players take their end of it, get it out of the prison garb and the thuggery aspect of basketball that has come along with hip-hop music in the last seven or eight years”
RAP MUSIC AND THUGS. My ears are bleeding from how loud this dogwhistle is. Fuck Phil Jackson.
To bring this back to Scottie Pippen, nothing he said on The Dan Patrick show was a really strong example of racism but again, my man has not been sober for quite some time. He 1000% watched the sunrise that morning with a Coors Light in his hand so he didn’t quite have his thoughts gathered for TV.
But the last point that needs to be made here is that Dan Patrick is a fucking loser for how incredulous he was about Scottie calling Phil Jackson racist. White people truly believe that calling a white person a racist is far worse than any racist thing that person could’ve done.
The media sucks. Phil Jackson is racist. Scottie Pippen, please drink a glass of water.
