Showtime has officially announced a fight between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul and weird boxing elitists are FURIOUS.
The Paul brothers—I won’t pretend to know which one is which—have turned their Youtube success into amateur boxing careers. Again, I don’t know these people but they are making exorbitant amounts of money beating up people who are borderline famous.
One of them knocked out former NBA point guard, Nate Robinson, a few months back and from then on these two have been just making millions pummeling losers.
Meanwhile, Floyd Mayweather has spent his ‘retirement’ from boxing, um boxing. He and Conor McGregor stole millions from UFC idiots that thought that lanky Irish asshole could become a boxer overnight and defeat one of the greatest to ever do it.
People are pissed at Mayweather for now taking on this fight with the guy who’s famous for doing prank videos online thus symbolizing the death of a sport that hasn’t really mattered for decades.
I’ve watched two Floyd Mayweather fights in my life.
One was against a WASHED Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and the other was against The Big Show at Wrestlemania in 2008.
I wouldn’t really consider this man to be the gatekeeper of the sport when he’s spent the last 15 years stealing easy victories to remain undefeated and stealing pay-per-view paychecks he hasn’t really earned.
Being pissed at Floyd for receiving what is predicted to be around $100 milly for a fight in which there will literally be no winner or loser seems misguided or honestly, too late.
Mayweather has been in multiple domestic abuse cases throughout his career. This is very public information. The man is a massive piece of shit and has been forever. There is no reason to root for him or have any faith in his decisions.
To suddenly dislike Floyd now because you think he’s making a joke of your sport despite years of harming any woman in arm’s length means the sport of boxing has already been a joke. You guys really can’t find a new guy to promote that like, is kind to others? No? So then fuck your sport.
Let Youtubers and these goofy nerds fight real boxers. Who cares? Celebrity boxing has always been a thing. Mike Tyson was still the baddest man on Earth while celebrities were punching each other for quick paydays. Both things can exist simultaneously.
Shout out to Showtime for getting involved in this scam. I don’t know again who is paying for these Paul brother fights. I don’t know anyone who follows their corny adventures on Youtube but apparantly they have a massive audience and they’re cashing out. Cool.
This is not the time to get on our high horses about the glory days or whatever. All media sucks. All networks suck. Just watch it or don’t watch it. But let’s not pretend like *this* is the final straw that made you give up on Floyd Mayweather when there were women that had to ice the wounds he gave them.
