You cannot spend 15 minutes watching ESPN without boring discussions about Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson trade rumors. Two of the biggest names in the NFL woke up one morning and decided they were being ‘disrespected’ by their franchises and wanted out.
Aaron Rodgers claims he’s upset that Packers GM, Brian Gutekunst, didn’t include him in enough roster construction decisions. Last season, Green Bay traded up in the first round for a quarterback.
Understandably, from Aaron Rodgers’s perspective, drafting his backup doesn’t do a damn thing to help him win games. Maybe an offensive lineman or a receiver would be cool. Drafting some kid that to replace Rodgers and then asking Rodgers to help that kid take his job is a tough position to put that star of your franchise.
Rodgers has yet to show up to training camp and claims he won’t be back until Brian Gutekunst is fired.
Russell Wilson came out and said he was frustrated with the number of hits in the pocket he’s been taking the past few seasons and went so far as listing the teams he wanted to be traded to.
He has since walked back those comments but that’s probably because his entire brand is being a ‘nice guy’ and doesn’t want the entire state of Washington to hate him so since he wasn’t traded, he’s going to pretend the trade request never happened.
Both of these players are liars.
Aaron Rodgers literally just won the MVP award. Russell Wilson has been laying breadcrumbs down about wanting to leave for a few years now. Let’s be very clear that these two guys have no real problem with their organizations and simply just want to live and play for a different team.
It’s straightforward. They want to move.
We don’t need to spend hours of discussion with Mike Greenberg every single fucking morning about the ‘nuances’ of this situation. Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson want to move. People move every day. It’s not that complicated.
I’m ready to end this shit. Just trade Aaron Rodgers for Russell Wilson. Enough.
Russell Wilson’s production is dropping. He’s lost a step last season and I believe we are in store for a stinker. A Wilson stinker season would still be better than most QBs best efforts but Green Bay has Jordan Love waiting so they don’t need a franchise quarterback for the next 10 years. They need a solid player for a couple seasons to pass the baton.
Seattle won’t trade Wilson because they have no replacement for him. Geno Smith is their backup. That’s a 3 win team. Insert Aaron Rodgers and nothing changes. You’re good until his next midlife crisis and relationship with a C-list brunette.
Everyone’s happy and maybe ESPN can talk about the NBA playoffs or ya know, anything else.
