Joy Taylor and Taylor Rooks have announced a new podcast called “Two Personal”.
Here’s what Rooks said about the new venture:
“Joy [Taylor] and I have navigated our careers together as sisters in sport, but Two Personal allows us to expand and share our private thoughts and conversations with our listeners. This show is a space for us to be honest about our experiences, our emotions, and the way we view the world. There is infinitely more to us than what we have allowed the public to see, and I’m thrilled to be in a place where I feel ready to bare my full self and give an honest look into who I am completely.”
If you’ve ever seen a Taylor Rooks interview then get ready for guests to come up to their studio and start LYING. Guys sit across from Taylor Rooks and start talking about themselves like they are singlehandedly responsible for the popularity of the sport of basketball.
We are about to get some of the most egregious exaggerations like when LeBron said he could tell Kobe was going to drop 81 when he saw Kobe during warmups even though LeBron was playing for the Cavaliers and absolutely had no way of watching the warmups for a random ass Lakers/Raptors game.
And as funny as the lies will be at first, it’s going to get annoying quickly. Look at this week of discourse. JJ Redick called out Doc Rivers for lacking accountability and everyone in the media spent the entire week talking about this and JJ’s career and if First Take is supposed to be educational and blah blah.
With all the new player podcasts out, there is nothing I want less than a player to go sit next to Taylor Rooks, lie their ass off about their careers and then weeks of players rushing to tell their sides of the story. When clips start hitting the timeline, I’ll have to log off for at least 24 hours to avoid the most meaningless debates with people passionately arguing over PJ Tucker saying he’s the most influential player in NBA history of whatever bullshit comes from this pod.
And admittedly, I have complicated feelings about Joy Taylor.
I know she did the work at local radio to get to Fox Sports but there are a lot of people doing local radio who don’t end up on television. I imagine Joy got a little boost from being the sister of a Hall of Famer defensive end and for never hiding the fact that she loves her reflection.
Because every time I’ve listened to her either on The Herd or whatever Fox Sports show he musical chair seat lands in, Joy Taylor has always been ‘blah’ to me as either a host or a personality. And that’s not to say every person in sports television is a dynamic, genius thinker and communicator. Most suck. But eventually, they get sifted out and replaced. Joy is approaching a decade straight on Fox Sports every single day and I mean, good for her I reckon.
And I don’t even like talking about this because I feel like a neaderthal but man, I do wonder where her career would be if 1.) her brother wasn’t a legend 2.) she had A cups 3.) she wasn’t friends with Taylor Rooks.
Good for Joy Taylor though. This is prime hating but congrats on her getting these checks. You have to respect her ability to get a bag—whether she deserves it or not.
Also want to be clear I have nothing negative to say about Taylor Rooks. Need that on the record.
