Jazz Chisholm Just Didn’t Fit Into Yankees Culture

The New York Yankees have made a blockbuster trade for (1-time) All-Star Jazz Chisholm and there’s just something about him that doesn’t fit …

Over the weekend, the New York Yankees made a huge deal with the Miami Marlins to acquire 26-year-old (1-time) All-Star, Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Prior to this deal, the Yankees were on a 3-game losing streak, including once again losing the Subway Series against the New York Mets.

In the second game against the Mets last week, the Yankees lost 3-12 as they looked like a last place team despite being neck-and-neck with the Orioles for first place in the AL East.

Right now, Jazz Chisholm already has the 5th best OPS on the team.

They desperately need a guy who could simply be a league-average hitter and Chisolm is perfect as his OPS+ is literally 100.

He is like, the textbook definition of an average bat which is more than we can say about DJ LeMahieu or Trent Grisham.

In his debut this Sunday, Jazz instantly made his mark.

Jazz got a hit, stole a base and scored a run as the Yankees steamrolled the Red Sox in a 8-2 victory in Boston.

The vibes are instantly changing in the Bronx and if you grew up watching this squad then you know there’s no place for a guy like Jazz Chisholm in the prestigious Yankees organization.

The Yankees have established a certain type of culture and Jazz doesn’t fit into this clubhouse and I have no idea how Brian Cashman is still employed after this type of move.

Jazz Chisholm doesn’t fit Yankees culture

Look at this fit from his Yankees debut:

The backward hat. The big chain. The green belt.

Cool as shit.

But unfortunately, Jazz Chisholm doesn’t fit into the Yankees culture because he doesn’t ground into double plays.

Chisholm’s grounded into a double play zero times this season.

Jazz Chisolm made his MLB debut in 2020. He’s grounded into only 11 double plays his entire career.

The Yankees currently lead all of baseball with 98 GDP’s.

Sorry, Jazz, but we do things a certain way over here. When a runner is on first base, it is your duty to ground into a DP. 27 rings. You don’t question that level of success.

Fit in or get out. Not sure if I can keep supporting this team if they continue employing a guy who isn’t mentally crippled by runners on base.
