The New York Jets have been the worst team in the NFL for quite some time now. We can be more specific and say that the Adam Gase era was the peak of their atrociousness but that would imply that by firing him, they are suddenly on the way up.
Here’s a little fun fact to prove they aren’t quite up yet:
Yeaaaaa.
No quarterback on the Jets roster has ever thrown a pass in the NFL.
The only player on the entire extended training camp roster to throw a professional pass is their wide receiver who is 1-for-2.
Obviously, they drafted Zach Wilson with the no. 2 pick this summer so he would have zero NFL experience but what other franchise would bring a rookie into a quarterback room with two other kids who have never been in a game before.
Well, besides the Jets who had the dumbest QB room ever not too long ago when they drafted Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg to be their 3rd and 4th string QBs in a league in which there were no longer enough practice reps to give to a 3rd stringer so they just never practiced and essentially were paid to watch on the sidelines one physical step ahead of the Jets beat writers.
I still have no idea why they drafted James Morgan last season. If you weren’t sure about Sam Darnold then you should’ve signed a vet as opposed to wasting a pick on a backup that you hope never plays.
Now, I understand Joe Flacco being the backup last season didn’t change the world for the Jets when Sam Darnold got injured but at least the man’s won a Super Bowl. Oh, and had thrown passes before.
Fingers crossed Zach Wilson not only stays healthy all year but plays well enough to keep the media off his back and pressure off the Jets to bench him because again, no one on this team can throw a football.
