The New York Yankees have just completed a sweep of the Boston Red Sox that’s resulted in New York taking the lead of the AL Wildcard while Boston has dropped from first place in the AL East to not even making the playoffs if they were to begin today.
HAHAHAHAHAHA.
You know who Boston really could’ve used tonight? An actual first baseman. Maybe someone like Anthony Rizzo who they were in trade talks with but instead, ended up acquiring Kyle Schwarber from the Nationals.
You know who did acquire Anthony Rizzo? The Yankees.
Let’s quickly recap how both players have performed on their new teams:
Anthony Rizzo: 3 home runs 8 RBIs
Kyle Schwarber: 0 home runs 0 RBIs
Hm. Interesting.
You also can’t ignore Rizzo’s defensive presence as his glove basically saved the lead that he helped create after a 2-run single in the second. When Aroldis Chapman came into the 9th with the sole mission of losing the game, Rizzo’s defense kept the Yankees ahead.

Here’s what Red Sox manager, Alex Cora, had to say after getting 3-game swept in 2 days:
“It’s very quiet today. It’s very quiet in the clubhouse, and understandably so. It’s a different feeling than early in the season when we came here and did what we did.”
Awwwww. The man who reportedly orchestrated the Houston Astros sign-stealing cheating get rich quick scheme, who is somehow lucky to still even be allowed to participate in the sport of baseball is finally quiet for once.
The Red Sox are 4-6 in their last 10 games and 6-14 in their last 20. 15 of their last 22. Yike. Also need to point out that this team got shut out by Andrew Heaney Wednesday night. The same Andrew Heaney who had previously allowed 15 runs in 15 innings. Boston scored 1 run on 2 hits against ANDREW HEANEY HAHAHAHA.
Get the Boston Red Sox out of here. They’re done. I’m going to enjoy watching the Yankees win the World Series at the bar with JD Martinez sitting next to me sulking.
