Gerrit Cole Is Suffering From a Top Secret Injury

Gerrit Cole and the New York Yankees are acting like Cole’s elbow isn’t currently falling off the bone as they continue to get more tests and reveal absolutely none of the results.

The 2024 MLB season starts on March 28th for the New York Yankees as they hit the road to face the Houston Astros. And their opening day starter, Gerrit Cole, most likely won’t be available as the team continues to run tests on his pitching elbow.

Here’s what Yankees manager, Aaron Boone, said about Cole’s arm on Monday afternoon:

“His recovery, before getting to his next start, has been more akin to what he feels during the season, when he’s making 100 pitches. When he’s at 45 [pitches] and building to 55, he usually doesn’t have the recovery issues he’s having.”

Yikes. You never want to hear about the best pitcher in baseball feeling midseason arm fatigue at the end of Spring Training.

The news on Tuesday is Gerrit Cole is still undergoing more tests to determine while the team keeps the results vague. However, they aren’t really doing the job they think they’re doing. If Gerrit Cole’s elbow was fine, he probably wouldn’t be seeing multiple doctors and getting multiple tests. Cole didn’t get great news from the first visit to the hospital and decided to just take more tests and see more physicians to get even more great news.

Chances are, Cole’s elbow disintegrated from carrying an awful 82-80 Yankees team from last season.

Here’s what Gerrit Cole did for the pitiful 2022 New York Yankees:

  • 2.63 ERA (Led AL)
  • 15-4 record (2nd in AL)
  • 209 innings pitched (Led AL)
  • 2 complete games
  • 2 shut outs (Led AL)
  • 222 Ks (3rd in AL)
  • 165 ERA+ (Led AL)
  • 0.98 WHIP (Led AL)
  • 6.8 hits per 9 innings (Led AL)
  • 1 AL Cy Young Award

The Yankees wasted one of the best pitching seasons ever and now, Cole might miss the whole 2024 year with a completely revamped batting order led by Juan Soto.

If Gerrit Cole isn’t healthy, who should be the Yankees opening-day starter?

Recent rumors say the Yankees are blowing up the Chicago White Sox phone to quickly acquire their Ace, Dylan Cease, who is coming off a bit of a down year last season after finishing 2nd in 2022 Cy Young voting.

Marcus Stroman seems like a smart option as the opening-day starter considering he’s having a great Spring Training. The Yankees might also want to make sure the rest of the rotation maintains their typical rest days to start the year so you keep Carlos Rodon at 2 and Nestor Cortes at 3 so you don’t upset people’s routines.

It looks nasty when you get into Clarke Schmidt and Clayton Beeter—who sounds like a nickname given to the weird kid in high school who opens his locker one day and his weird ass porn magazine collection spills onto the hallway floor and another student walking by accidentally steps on his Ava Devine DVDs.

But as a Yankees fan, it’s time to convince myself it is officially Beeter Season.

REAL BEETERS STAND UP.
