Everyone Be Kind To Chris Paul, He Had a Secret Quad Injury or Some Shit

chris paul game 7

According to everyone with a blue checkmark on Twitter, there is nothing more exciting than a Game 7. Your wedding day, the birth of your first child, losing your virginity. All meaningless compared tp a Game 7.

The most recent NBA Game 7 was exciting for the Dallas Mavericks, who won by 33. Not so exciting for the Phoenix Suns who lost by 33 thanks to Chris Paul forgetting how to dribble a basketball which, you can imagine, impedes a professional basketball player.

But it’s all okay.

Christopher Paul scored 10 points in the most important game of the entire season and had a -39 plus-minus but it’s not his fault because his quad was sore or whatever.

The Suns scored 27 points in the first half but that’s the best they could possibly do with Christopher on one leg like in Mad Max 2 after Max was shot in the original Max—even though CP didn’t limp at any point during the game and only suddenly started to after getting embarrassingly blown out at home in a Game 7?

Remember in 2017 when the Chris Paul-led Clippers lost to the Utah Jazz in Game 7 when Paul scored 13 points with 6-for-19 shooting from the field and 1-for-7 from 3? I bet his quad was sooooo sore after that game too. They lost to Gordon Hayward and George Hill. Must’ve been his quad and not the fact that CP3 has mental meltdowns whenever the games matter most and Joe Ingles had that man in handcuffs all night.

It’s odd that the player affectionately nicknamed the ‘Point God‘ seems to get all the praise for dragging teams to the playoffs and none of the blame when he evaporates in the most important games.

It just feels strange to call someone the Point God when they have significantly fewer rings than Alex Caruso and Matthew Dellavadova.

Paul George, James Harden and, Ben Simmons are roasted by fans and media for their playoff failures while Chris Paul is the only player in the NBA to blow FIVE 2-0 playoff series leads.

The argument I’ve heard is that he ‘cares’ and ‘plays harder’ compared to those other players who are perceived to not put in as much effort as Paul in these games but uh, if you are a relaxed player all year and that’s what makes you great, it’s not a bad thing to maintain that cool when the pressure is on.

We praise quarterbacks for being poised under pressure. Shout out Eli Manning. It’s a good quality. They’ve charted Patrick Mahomes’s heart rates during big playoff games and the only time his heart beats faster is when he’s on the sidelines watching his defense. But when the ball is in his hands, he’s cool, calm and collected.

You know what’s a bad quality? This Chris Paul Game 7 shit where he tries too hard and makes clumsy mistakes and looks completely overwhelmed by the stakes.

This man turned 37 years old this month and that poor, precious quad is falling off the bone, apparently. You also can’t ignore the weird behind-the-scenes nonsense happening with DeAndre Ayton who was benched for ‘internal reasons’.

Chances are, the Suns’s third-best player won’t be on the team next season so the Suns will be even worse while Kawhi Leonard comes back next season. Jamal Murray comes back next season. Klay Thompson gets a full offseason without riding around in a wheelchair. Anthony Davis will be healthy.

Chris Paul will never win another championship but let’s all get ready for one final playoff meltdown next season when Ja Morant puts that man in a figure-four leg lock and Paul suffers a real quad injury, I mean another one.
