Why did the Cleveland Browns draft Dillon Gabriel?
Last season, the Cleveland Browns offense finished dead last in scoring. Karma robbed Deshaun Watson of his achilles so he’ll most likely miss the entire 2025 season.
Jameis Winston signed a 2-year deal with the New York Giants so the Browns brought back 40-year old Joe Flacco.
They also acquired backup, Kenny Pickett, to add some depth in the QB room.
But Cleveland needed a young QB in-house to develop under head coach, Kevin Stefanski, a coach capable of helping quarterbacks reach their potential.
Gabriel led the country in yards and touchdowns twice in his college career. He’s the 2024 Big Ten Player of the Year and set the record for the most career touchdowns in college football history.
He also played six seasons of college ball. At 24 years old, Dillon Gabriel is one of the oldest players in this draft.
He’s also about 5-foot-10 playing a position where short players have historically failed thanks to an inability to see above a large offensive line or endure a season full of crushing blows from linebackers.
Shedeur Sanders is younger, has more of a traditional QB size but he will continue live-streaming himself watching other quarterbacks get drafted before he does.
