Baltimore Orioles Fire Manager Brandon Hyde Just 43 Games Into The Season

With the Baltimore Orioles sitting at the bottom of the AL East with a 15-28 record, the team is firing their manager, Brandon Hyde. Two seasons ago, Baltimore won 101 games only to be swept by the Rangers in the ALDS. Last season, Baltimore won 91 games, a 10-game decline, and got swept by the Kansas City Royals in the Wildcard Round.

Now, a team full of top young talent, can’t figure out how to score more runs than their opponents. They have a -75 run differential, the second worst in baseball. They’re not just losing, they’re getting their heads bashed in every other night. The Minnesota Twins just swept them. The Orioles cannot stop being swept. They’re the cleanest team in sports.

What went wrong with Brandon Hyde?

With a roster full of top prospects, the Orioles have consistently underachieved. You can’t win 101 games one season and then get eliminated by the Kansas City Royals in the Wildcard Round the next year.

Brandon Hyde came into this season knowing his job was on the line and the Orioles have played like they were trying to get Hyde fired.

This team rank 28th in hits, 26th in batting average, on-base percentage and total bases and 25th in runs.

But ultimately, Hyde is being tossed under the bus by an Orioles front office incapable of acquiring pitchers who are good at pitching.

Baltimore currently has the 3rd-worst team ERA this year. They have the 2nd fewest strikeouts.

This team should have been adding All-Stars every offseason like the Mets and Yankees and Padres and Dodgers and instead, they spent the Winter Meetings just hanging out, charging their phone, vaping, while the rest of the league was actively acquiring players.

Brandon Hyde didn’t stand a chance.
