Recently, RGIII announced that he was releasing a book titled ‘Surviving Washington’. I was prepared to mock this title because although they overplayed him to the point his knees evaporated, the title was being repurposed and taken away from sexual assault survivors who have used that surviving hashtag to share their stories.
Welp, turns out that RGIII was using that title because he, too, is a victim of sexual harassment during his time in Washington. Here’s what he said in a Twitter video. I would typically post the actual video here but he’s blocked me. Probably because of how frequently I make fun of him. I can see why he’d want to uh, establish boundaries between us.
“I’m going to tell you the truth about what happened in that playoff game in 2012 against Seattle. I’m going to detail the medical mismanagement that I received during my time in Washington. I’m going to open your eyes to the sexual harassment that permeated the walls of that building, and give you a deep dive into a power struggle between one of the most powerful coaches in all of sports and an owner that many of you want gone.”
And here’s his wife, who has not blocked me (yet) clarifying the sexual harassment claim:
Let’s clear up a misconception about “Surviving Washington”. In the book, Robert is not talking about other peoples experiences with sexual harassment in Washington. He is talking about his OWN experience with sexual harassment in Washington.

The details of the harassment will not be clear until you read the book. We do not know who committed the actions or who within the organization knew it was occurring but if there was any franchise that was going to sexually harass their employee, it would be Washington.
The same Football Team that pimped their cheerleaders out to potential sponsors. The same Football Team that had execs in an email exchange with Jon Gruden passing around nude photos of these same cheerleaders. The owner, Dan Snyder, had to pay $1.6 million in a sexual misconduct settlement.
So it’s strange that people’s immediate reaction is to doubt RGIII’s story by calling him attention-seeking or just attempting to sell more books when we all know that Washington has spent that past two decades groping everyone that walks through their building.
Both things can be true. Robert Griffin III is a weirdo. AND he was sexually harassed. Let’s not let his weirdo behaviors instantly discredit his stories.
Fuck the Washington Football Team.
Also, I will be reading zero (0) pages of this book.
