It’s been an interesting month for (former) Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Bass. He shared a video of a Christian influencer urging people to boycott Bud Light and Target for daring to sell their products to gay people. Not a great look for a Blue Jays organization in the midst of marketing their upcoming Pride night.
Naturally, the Blue Jays made him do a public apology at gun point.

All should be forgiven right? You share a video using your religion as a shield to defend your prejudice. You apologize like a little kid being forced to say sorry to the gas station cashier because their mom caught them stealing bubblegum. Everything goes back to normal.
Uh, here’s how the Blue Jay fans greeted Bass the next time he appeared out of the bullpen at the home stadium:

What a lovely embrace from the home crowd. Turns out, Toronto fans don’t love the guy who gets involved in lame culture war bullshit online.
But for some reason, the team decided to make a grand statement by having Anthony Bass go out there and catch the ceremonial first pitch of Pride weekend from Toronto LGBTQIA+ activist leZlie Lee Kam.
As incredibly awkward as that moment would’ve been, Toronto decided to move in another direction.

Wow. I cannot believe the Blue Jays are cutting this warrior fighting against the great evil of gay people existing. Pour one out for this free speech hero—oh, who also happens to have a 4.95 ERA and literally just had an outing this week where he gave up 3 hits including a 2-run homer to Jake Meyers in only one inning of work.
I demand justice for this man battling against the woke mind virus—who also happens to have given up 19 hits in just 22 innings. He’s faced 88 batters and 30 of them have reached base safely against him. That’s a .375 OBP against the dude whose job is simply to get the team from the 5th to the 6th inning. League average ERA+ is 100. Anthony Bass is sitting down there at 84.
Personally, if I was struggling to complete the basic tasks and requirements of my job, I would shut the fuck up on social media about topics potentially damaging to the company allowing me to skate by and still collect paychecks.
Anthony Bass is 1000% being cancelled—because he sucks at his job and can no longer continue working there. One time I was on ‘probation’ from a job because I wasn’t written up a bunch of times for showing up whenever I wanted. I didn’t then jump onto Instagram to start shitting on gay people right before my company was planning Pride weekend but if I did do that, I wouldn’t pretend to be shocked if they fired me.
Honestly, Anthony Bass should’ve been cut the second he tweeted this complaint. Dear everyone on Earth, please stop logging onto Twitter to whine about your very unimportant airline experience especially when you are whining about the lack of in-air custodians to pick up your toddler’s popcorn.
Truly excited for Anthony Bass’s new career as Enes Kanter’s sidekick as the two men—who lost their careers for being the worst combination of both bad at your job and being suuuuper annoying—can now be culture war puppets for whatever Republican candidate wants to use them for bigot clout.
Doy you guys think it was fair for the Blue Jays to DFA Anthony Bass? If you disagree, I probably already know the copy and paste nonsense you’re going to send me but send it anyway, damn it. Currently drinking a bud light celebrating Bass’s demise.
