Adam Schefter is the no. 1 NFL insider. His job is to tweet NFL news but like, tweet it 4 seconds before the thousand other NFL insiders tweet it. We all receive the information and none of us care whether it’s from Schefter or Ian Rappaport or whoever.
Just tell me if Saquon Barkley can play on Sunday. He serves almost no real value to you and me.
But how does Adam Schefter find himself involved in this mess?
Several emails between Allen and journalists are part of the filing too. In one of them from July 2011, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter sent Allen the draft of an unpublished story that was published later the same day.
“Please let me know if you see anything that should be added, changed, tweaked,” Schefter wrote. “Thanks, Mr. Editor, for that and the trust. Plan to file this to espn about 6 am ….”
For context, if you’re not understanding why this is unethical journalism, Schefter was writing a story about NFL CBA negotiations. The players and owners were flirting with a lockout in 2011 because they could not come to terms on a fair deal.
Adam Schefter wrote a pro-ownership, ball-licking piece and sent the draft to Bruce Allen, Washington’s team president’ and was like ‘is this good, daddy???’.
I am not a journalist nor did I ever want to be or ever plan to be but I understand their importance. When you purport yourself as a journalist writing a story about labor negotiations, you’d think you’d be smarter than to ask your source if they like the way they’re being portrayed in the story.
You don’t run stories by your sources because they have personal interests and could sway the story to fit their narratives instead of the story, ya know, telling the truth.

Adam Schefter was out for me last season when Myles Garrett ripped off Mason Rudolph’s helmet and swung it at him. Schefter tweeted this:
Adam Schefter so a fight on a football field and wanted one player arrested for assault. He went on ESPN’s Get Up the next morning to double down and suggest that legal action should be taken against Myles Garrett.
If he’s fondling Bruce Allen’s balls via email—the same Bruce Allen that was saying some super racist shit with Jon Gruden—then I caaaaaan’t help but feel as though Adam saw a big black guy chase a little white quarterback and instantly wanted the police to drive onto the field and arrest him so he can feel more comfortable at night knowing that there’s one less thug out there blasting rap beats in their loud cars.
This article was kind of mean. Let me send the draft to Schefter first to see if he approves.
