Deadseriousness Audit: 2022 New York Jets

Welcome to the Deadseriousness Audit where we break down the season that was and preview the season to come.

The New York Jets finished 7-10 and publicly executed their 2nd year QB, Zach Wilson.

What Went Right

The New York Jets 2022 draft class was damn near perfect. Just a master class on scouting. Garrett Wilson might win Rookie of the Year. Breece Hall would’ve won Rookie of the Year if his ACL didn’t pop like a balloon. Jermaine Johnson had 2.5 sacks. Oh, and Sauce Gardner is already a Top 5 corner in the NFL. Shades of Revis. The Jets were a Top 5 passing defense thanks to Sauce.

Mike White once again proved he’s the Ryan Fitzpatrick of backup QBs capable of throwing for 500 yards on any given week as well as being capable of throwing 3 terrible looking interceptions

What Went Wrong

It appears as though the Jets wasted the no. 2 pick on a quarterback who stinks and then goes to the post-game press conference to say the team losing isn’t his fault. He’s a weird Mormon boy whose mom is quoted in the local media like, way too often and he reads defenses as well as Floyd Mayweather reads Shakespeare.

Guys like Derek Carr and Ryan Tannehill will be available. That won’t help the Jets beat the Bills or Dolphins in the AFC East but at least the new quarterback won’t be up late texting his teammates’ moms.

Free Agency

Most of the roster is looked into contracts so they don’t have to worry about bringing back ket contributors. Right tackle George Fant is a free agent anddd based on his performance this season he might stay that way for the rest of his life.

Joe Flacco is a free agent and after looking checked the fuck out in his last start, we may have seen the end of one of the greatest Marlboro men in the industry. What a ride.

Draft

The Jets pick 13th and for the first time in a long time, the team doesn’t have 2,000 draft picks. Just, like, one per round like everyone else. Weird. But they should 1000% use that pick to select an offensive lineman. Doesn’t matter what QB you have back there if they don’t have any time in the pocket.
