Over the weekend, New York took 3 of 4 against the Boston Red Sox to win the season series and the tiebreaker for home-field advantage in the wild card, if it came down to that.
The final game of the series wasn’t particularly competitive—Yankees bombed the Red Sox, 16-1.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, Yankees up 7-1, Yankees second baseman Jaxx Chisholm drew a walk. Then he stole second base. Then third.
The Red Sox commentary team, disgusted Jazz would dare steal a base—gasp, up 6 runs—couldn’t help themselves from letting the Boston out.

When Red Sox fans see black men confidently succeed against them, they instinctually go full school shooter mode. Immediate calls for violence and retribution. Suddenly there’s a “right way to play the game” and a need for decorum and class and grace. When shit hits the wall in Boston and a black player threw the shit, a laden gene kicks in, forcing slurs from the back of their throats. Panic and adrenaline flood their bodies, they must save their wives and daughters from the evil coloreds.
Will Fleming later offered a half ass apology for those who needed it. My pearls remain unclutched. I work on the internet all day, my ears bleed from dog whistles. This is nothing special. Old school shit honestly. #tbt
Personally, I’m busy celebrating the 16-1 thumping, humiliation, teabagging, I can’t hear any apologies from so many games ahead in the Wild Card. I don’t know what’s going on down there with all the losers.
