Decided to tap into the Philadelphia Sixers—one of the final remaining undefeated ball clubs.
Paul George recently had knee surgery.
Jared McCain injured day one of training camp.
Joel Embiid, on a minutes restriction—Jennette McCurdy’s ex to spell.
This team should be sharing an under-the-stairs basement bedroom with the Brooklyn Nets.
On Monday night, Philadelphia beat Washington in a 139-134 OT. Philly is 4-0. Top of the Eastern Conference.
Ok.
How are they undefeated?
Tyrese Maxey MVP(?)
In 4 games, Tyrese Maxey leads the NBA with 37.5 points a game.
Philly went into the 4th quarter down 14.
Maxey scored 39 with 10 assists.
The MVP got the boys through Washington.
Shooting 47% from 3, averaging 11.5 free throw attempts a night—Tyrese Maxey cemented all holes in his game.
He is a complete scorer, driving 100 mph, attacking defenders like he’s Netanyahu-instructed—ping-ponging off contact, sending himself to the free throw line whenever he feels—Tyrese is objectively a Top 5 scorer in the NBA—and he knows it.
But what’s truly new in Maxey’s game is his passing.
Tyrese is averaging 8.3 assists, almost double his career average.
He’s developed a Verlander fastball—rocketing skip passes across the court—a pass deemed dangerous for most, has become Tyrese’s specialty. His passes beat rotations.
Shout out to Knicks legend, Quentin Grimes, coming off a nasty restricted free agency, dissatisfied with his positioning in the NBA hierarchy—surely believing he’s capable of averaging 20 a night in the starting rotation of any team—Grimes came off the bench to score 23 points, many of those late in the 4th quarter of a close game.
Grimes is third on the Sixers in scoring, ahead of Joel Embiid.
Between Maxey, Grimes, rookie VJ Edgecomb, who’s averaging 22.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists, and the returning Jared McCain—Philadelphia employs a gang of killers in their backcourt.
In an Eastern Conference full of injuries and weird chemistry problems, like in Orlando and Atlanta—Philadelphia could have homecourt advantage without former MVP Joel Embiid ever needing to play more than 25 minutes.
Only one man can stop them…

Paul George is set to return early November. That’s soon.
The 35-year-old, coming off microscopic knee surgery—last season, his lowest scoring season since 2015, a decade ago—is dropping into the middle of the 2nd-rated offense in the NBA.
4 games in, the Sixers understand what makes them special.
And now an old, limping, used-to-be is coming to get targeted on defense. The Sixers have the 27th-ranked defense. Paul George does not fix this.
Paul George, just based on the respect his career deserves, will halt games with isos to nowhere—or even worse, he could go full passive mode, believing he’s “distributing” the ball, when it’s really cowardice and/or fatigue.
Everyone on this team is playing their best basketball.
I cannot doubt them anymore.
Paul George is coming back in All-NBA form.
The gods have already decided.
The best chance my Knicks ever had to win a championship in my lifetime and the Sixers are melting HGH into the water bottles.
Alex Sarr is the prototype
If an NBA team is electing to play basketball through their big man, in 2025, Alex Sarr is the perfect prototype—capable of shooting from 3, running to the rim to receive ‘oops, rim protection, rebounding and court vision to make some plays with his back to the basket.
Here’s what Alex Sarr did against the Sixers on Tuesday night:
- 31 points
- 13-23 from the field
- 3 threes
- 11 rebounds
- 5 assists
- 2 steals
- 2 blocks

Two minutes into the first quarter, Alex Sarr dunked on Joel Embiid. The two big men had a not-so-subtle back-and-forth competition in the middle of this game.
Sarr looked at an MVP standing across from him, grabbed his fork and knife, 5-course meal. Not a stain on his bib.
I love the Washington Wizards.
2nd year guard, Kyshawn George, is averaging 20.3—after a summer in the weight room, carrying defenders on his back to the rim.
Corey Kispert and Tre Johnson running around hitting 3’s.
Khris Middleton and CJ McCollum Old Man Logan-ing their way through the National Guard in the DC streets.
Marvin Bagley and Cam Whitmore optimizing all of their minutes to reestablish their reputations in this league.
And Alex Sarr backing Joel Embiid into the paint like he’s Michael Doleac.
The Wizards are a good offseason away from competing. While Cade Cunningham averages 5.5 turnovers, playing like he’s dribbling a football, Washington is coming…
