2025 New York Jets Free Agency Guide

From suring up the trenches to deciding, ya know, who will be their starting quarterback, let’s talk 2025 New York Jets free agency.

Last season’s Athletic report about Woody Johnson and his insistence that Jets employees address him as “Mr. Ambassador”—and his teenage son making roster-building decisions based on Madden ratings—didn’t inject confidence in me that new general manager, Darren Mougey, will be capable of leading this organization to a championship parade.

The 2024 New York Jets had a rough go of it.

Aaron Rodgers played worse than Zach Wilson while revealing, after a thorough investigation of the facts, that Dr. Fauci created the AIDS epidemic.

Fuck that guy.

Aaron, not the doctor.

I don’t have opinions about the doctor because I’m normal.

Normal-ish.

More fucking normal than Aaron Rodgers.

Finishing 5-12 with an interim head coach after firing Robert Saleh midseason, the Jets have work to do this offseason.

Team Needs

Not having a quarterback on the roster could be a problem—although, you could argue the Jets may be better without Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball to the other team and then telling Pat McAfee how much he hates his life.

I won’t make the joke about former Jets QBs playing better immediately upon removing this team’s jersey off their back—weighing them down in mediocrity—but it would be kind of funny if Aaron Rodgers was an MVP candidate next season…

Whatever.

Let’s see who the Jets should add to the gang in 2025.

Free Agent Targets

nfl power rankings

1. Justin Fields – QB: The Jets have too many talented players to full out tank for 2026. You can’t waste a year of Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson.

Fans would only ironically love Gardner Minshew for so long before Fireman Ed announces his retirement again. His family doesn’t deserve that.

Do you know how much they get done on Sundays with his drunk ass screaming elsewhere?

Anyway yea, Justin Fields is still young enough and athletic enough to potentially get some Dubs. I genuinely believe he could win more games than Aaron Rodgers.

Plus, New York could and should still draft a QB in the first round. Whether they trade up for Cam Ward or Deion’s loud son falls to them or it’s even Jaxson Dart—the Jets should sit their rookie QB behind Justin Fields or have a QB comp—allowing the best man to win the job in camp.

Justin Fields will be cheap and new head coach, Aaron Glenn, feels like a guy who can motivate Fields into his best season yet.

2. Jamien Sherwood – LB: My guy transformed into one of the best linebackers in football last season—leading the NFL in solo tackles and leading the Jets in tackles combined.

This is the type of linebacker you build a defense around.

Aaron Glenn should be chained to Sherwood’s front door, refusing to leave until Jamien inks the tract.

3. Morgan Moses – OT: Moses deserves a new contract with the Jets based solely on his ability to play through injuries in a season that didn’t really matter.

Morgan Moses was limping around to keep Aaron fucking Rodgers upright.

If I had a slight cough, I’d let pass rushers take Rodgers’s head off his shoulders all game.

Give this man his money.

4. Javon Hargrave – DT: A 2-time Pro Bowler the Jets could steal at a discount following a triceps injury that robbed Hargrave of his 2024 season.

Prior to last season, Hargrave had 3 consecutive years with 14+ QB Hits.

Javon Hargrave and Quinnen Williams vs. Everyone.

Random Personal Wish List

2025 nfl season

1. Sam Darnold – QB: I want to see how good Sam Darnold really is.

Last time he played for the Jets, he was visited by spirits.

Let’s see if he can return to the team that drafted him and still play like the Top 5 QB he was in 2024.

2. Darius Slayton – WR: I cannot watch Darius Slayton play for my beloved Giants anymore. His legacy is too attached to Daniel Jones—the worst thing that ever happened to me.

It’s like sharing a favorite movie with an ex. I’d rather die than watch Avatar again. I hate her.

BUT, I want Darius Slayton to stay in New York.

He’s been the best Giants receiver of the last half-decade, unfortunately.

He should be able to keep his house.

Just get off the Giants. Please.

3. Carlton Davis – CB: Coming off a year in Detroit with Aaron Glenn’s Top 10 defense, Davis already has a familiarity with the system.

Plus, he’s a consistent veteran to pair across from Sauce Gardner, whose production is up and down depending on how he spent his Saturday night.

4. Stefon Diggs – WR: Wouldn’t it be nice if Stefon Diggs got to play in New York, in front of his new family with Cardi B and Offset outside of their bedroom window, holding a boombox over his head blasting “Ric Flair Drip”, romantically.
