The NFL has a Baker Mayfield problem.
After scoring a touchdown against the New York Giants on Sunday, Baker Mayfield proceeded to take Tommy DeVito’s signature celebration and turn into something much, much darker.
Oh my. Baker Mayfield just scored a TD and made sure all #Giants fans saw him doing the Tommy DeVito celebration.

This is abhorrent. Remember growing up watching guys with class?
Guys like Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson—players who would never dare disrespect their opponents?
Players who knew where the line was.
Baker’s action warranted an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the field and honestly, I think the NFL should go even further and suspend Baker Mayfield for the rest of the season after the way he mocked Tommy DeVito.
What’s most sickening is how open, blatant racism has just become tolerated in this country. After the game, reporters asked Baker if he had any Italian in him and Baker responded, “I haven’t done a 23andMe, but I don’t know.”
Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.
How can you do the Tommy DeVito celebration without even being sure you are of that culture?? You don’t think this is a big deal?
Imagine Baker scoring a rushing touchdown, ripping off his helmet, then painting his face with shoe polish. Would you guys feel the same if Baker went blackface?
Exactly.
So why are you okay with him usurping Italian culture?
We just witnessed racism on Sunday afternoon in MetLife Stadium.
A full-out attack on the Italians and Baker just gets to keep playing football every week like he didn’t just declare war on an entire race of people?
Looks like I’m leaving the country next. I refuse to share land with people so willing to turn a blind eye to bigotry and prejudice.
Italians are people too, believe it or not.
This house will be boycotting the NFL until Baker is gone.
I’ll be on the right side of history.
You guys can keep supporting these Klan rallies but I stand with my Italian brothers and sisters.
They’ve fought fascism before and they’ll do it again.
Shame on all of you who agree with Baker Mayfield taking the Tommy DeVito celebration.
