Donte DiVincenzo vs. Rick Brunson

A Donte DiVincenzo Rick Brunson melee almost took place at Madison Square as the Wolves and Knicks did BATTLE

We got FREEEEEEESH BEEEF in Madison Square Garden Sunday night.

The Minnesota Timberwolves came to Broadway just a few weeks after the two teams completed a massive, season-altering trade. Minnesota sent 4-time All-Star, Karl-Anthony Towns, to New York for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo (and a draft pick that won’t matter).

It only took 6 minutes for the beef to get addressed. On the free throw line, Donte DiVincenzo had something to say to someone on the Knicks bench:

After the game, when everyone was dapping up, Donte was done talking shit. He and Knicks assistant coach, Rick Brunson, had to be separated.

On the night of the KAT trade, there was a small little report that DiVincenzo was upset about his reduced role and wasn’t into the whole Nova Boys thing. But Donte has come out and said that report was BS as he never spoke to anyone regarding his role—which makes me think that story was fabricated by the Knicks to explain trading away one of the 4 Villanova alumni the team had spent all summer building their marketing around.

Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo were all in a GQ feature that had to awkwardly come out after the trade. Donte was smiling, having the time of his life with his buddies. That man did not want to get a Friday night text telling him he lives in Minnesota now.

Donte clearly feels like the coaching staff had the final say in the trade and they didn’t want him around.

DiVincenzo just hit the most single-season threes in Knicks history. He was instrumental in their first-round victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. He was the last healthy body standing in the next round against the Pacers.

And the team decided they didn’t need him.

I, too, would be trying to fight every single coach who gave the trade a thumbs up. I’m slapping the MSG minimum wage staffer who took my nameplate off my locker.

On the Knicks side, they needed a center after Isaiah Hartenstein left and Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best big men on the planet.

Julius Randle can’t dribble without looking at the ball. Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA. This trade was a no-brainer.

December 19th, the Knicks fly into Minnesota for war.

I need a constant cam in the corner of the broadcast watching every move Donte DiVincenzo and Rick Brunson make. Obviously, they need to be mic’d up as well.

This is finally our chance to catch Donte saying the n-word.

Who wins the Donte DiVincenzo Rick Brunson beef?

I watched that clip of Rick Brunson making his son hit midrange pull-up jumpers over and over again. Donte wouldn’t be the first Villanova kid Rick Brunson abused. Rick would drag Donte up and down the court as the spirit of the 90s Knicks possesses him like Aang in the Avatar state.
