Celebrities Who Are Major Baseball Fans

Baseball attracts fans from all walks of life. In fact, go to an MLB game, and you may just spot one of these celebrities. Below are some of the biggest celebrity baseball fans.

Denzel Washington

Hollywood actor Denzel Washington is a huge Yankees fan. He’s often seen rocking his New York Yankees ball cap and attends quite a lot of games. Also, as this video shows, he really knows his Yankees trivia. It’s no wonder Denzel was so convincing in his role of aspiring baseball player Troy Maxson in Fences.

Paul Rudd

Actor and screenwriter Paul Rudd was born in New Jersey, but grew up in Kansas City. Ever since his childhood, he’s been a massive fan of the Kansas City Royals. In fact, back when they won the MLB season in 2015, Rudd is known to have said that ‘he was going to faint’ and he threw a huge party afterwards to celebrate.

Avril Lavigne

Pop-punk singer Avril Lavigne has been seen at quite a few games (including her notorious sweary appearance at a Tampa Bay Rays’ game).. Apparently, she used to play for the girl’s team at high school – she pitched for them and the team even won a tournament.

Tom Hanks

Esteemed actor Tom Hanks grew up in the Bay area and has always been a big Oakland Athletics fan. He’s stayed close to his roots, avidly supporting the team throughout his adult life and attending multiple local games. He’s also known for being vocal about his disdain for rival local team the Oakland Raiders.

Bill Murray

Few celebrities are as passionate about baseball as Bill Murray. The actor is known for being an ardent Chicago Cubs fan, often seen comically belting out ‘Take Me Out To The Ball Game’ at Cubs’ games. He also famously celebrated with the Cubs players in 2016 after a victory against the Cleveland Indians.

Billie Joe Armstrong

The Greenday singer is known for his passion of music, with his son Joey Armstrong even following in his footsteps and becoming a rock musician himself. However, aside from music, Billie Joe Armstrong is also a big baseball fan. He helped coach his sons’ Little League team when they were young and has publicly stated that he’d have loved to have been a catcher.

Eminem

Rap icon Eminem is a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers and still attends many Tigers games. He is regularly seen with a Tigers cap on his head. The team is known to have sold a limited-edition Eminem jersey in the past as a tribute to his continuous support.

George. W. Bush

Ex-president George W Bush continues to be a massive baseball fan. He played Little League baseball as a child and continued to be a huge fan throughout his adulthood. He embarked on a deal to buy the Texas Rangers back in 1988, selling them in 1998 to Tom Hicks. He has continued to show his support by attending games throughout his presidency and after.
