6 Biggest Winners and Losers of the Davante Adams New York Jets Trade

The Davante Adams New York Jets trade is official. The Raiders are sending the 3-time All Pro receiver to die in New Jersey.

The Las Vegas Raiders are trading 3-time All-Pro receiver, Davante Adams, to the New York Jets for a 3rd round pick that could turn into a 2nd rounder if Adams makes an All-Pro team the Jets advance to the AFC Championship Game.

With every blockbuster trade there are winners and there are certainly losers.

Let’s start with the winners of the Davante Adams New York Jets trade:

1. Nathaniel Hackett

The second Aaron Rodgers retires, Nathaniel Hackett’s career is over.

I have no idea what Hackett actually does.

When he was a head coach, Denver won 4 games and fired him after a season where Hackett weekly demonstrated his lack of understanding for the rules and the clock and the game of football at large.

He was just demoted from playcalling duties and honestly, I’m not sure he was doing much in the first place. Aaron Rodgers looked like he was walking up to the line of scrimmage and changing the plays, like, every single play.

But Aaron Rodgers respects Hackett, for some reason, and if adding Davante Adams to the Jets makes Rodgers happy then Hackett’s life is easier.

2. Antonio Pierce

Antonio Pierce and Davante Adams just spent the last couple of weeks acting like two annoying strip club bartenders taking subliminal shots at each other by liking posts and unfollowing people and just overall goofy, bird activity. They were behaving the way Kamala Harris talks when she’s around black people.

I don’t know if Antonio Pierce will have his job this time next year but I do know Davante Adams pretending to be injured every week wasn’t helping Pierce much anyway.

Maybe now he can focus on the team—a team that leads the NFL in turnovers and plays like they cannot wait to go out after the game.

3. Brock Bowers

The path to Brock Bowers getting an actual quarterback begins today. The Raiders tank starts now.

Brock Bowers could end up being the greatest tight end in NFL history.

But we’ll never know as long as Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell are throwing directly into the stretched arms of defensive linemen all game.

Incredible catch. Imagine if the quarterback didn’t throw the ball behind him.

Stay patient, Brock. Help is coming.

And now onto the Losers…

1. Davante Adams

If Davante Adams wants to hang out with Aaron Rodgers in New Jersey then sure, he’s a winner I guess.

But if he wants to win football games and compete for a championship then putting on a Jets jersey is not the answer.

It’s almost impossible to throw the ball without the threat of a running game to keep the defense off-balance. Adams didn’t have much success in Las Vegas because they could not hand the ball off and get positive yardage.

The Raiders rank 31st in rushing. It didn’t make sense for Adams to be there.

Fortunately, he’s joining a New York Jets team that is soooo much better at running the ball. See, the Jets are ranked 30th in rushing. 8 more yards than Vegas. Perfect.

If Davante thinks he and Rodgers will bring the old Green Bay Packers back, he’s about to be disappointed.

Plus, Rodgers is far weirder now than he was when they played together in Wisconsin. Adams better get ready to hear about COVID-19 conspiracies on the team plane. Don’t worry about charging your AirPods. Aaron will keep you entertained on the flight.

2. Maxx Crosby

I get the feeling Maxx Crosby is totally okay with playing football for a winning organization but after trading away Davante Adams, the Raiders are probably done making moves.

Crosby is stuck playing for a team incapable of making good decisions.

From Jon Gruden to Josh McDaniels to Antonio Pierce, the Raiders can hire coaches at all.

They can’t draft either.

And Maxx Crosby is stuck in this purgatory for the foreseeable future.

3. Robert Saleh

Bobby Saleh got fired a week before the Jets acquired a 6-time Pro Bowler. Doesn’t seem fair.

They could’ve at least given him a chance to lose with Davante Adams before firing.

Robert Saleh died so Aaron Rodgers could build his dream receiver with his ashes.

This is like when your girlfriend dumps you and gets back with the hot ex they always talked about when you were together. But like, she says she’s going on a ‘trip’ but she’s actually meeting up with her ex while she ignores your texts.

Robert Saleh is about to get a “sorry, I fell asleep” text.

Pray for Bobby Saleh.
