Last offseason, the Carolina Panthers knew there was a stud at the top of the draft and went out of their way to secure the future of their franchise. So they traded their star wide receiver, DJ Moore, to the Chicago Bears for the 2023 no. 1 overall pick and picked up their generational quarterback, Bryce Young.
Carolina also threw in their 2024 first-round pick but who cares? Bryce Young was going to dominate the league and that first-round pick would be in the early 30s.
Fast forward a year, and the Chicago Bears now have the no. 1 overall pick this year because Bryce Young looked lost out there and the Carolina Panthers only won 2 games.
So now Chicago is has the first pick of the 2024 NFL Draft in a year with a quarterback in Caleb Williams out of USC who is looking like one of the best QB prospects of this era. The Bears already have Justin Fields as their starting QB and although they haven’t had much winning yet, Fields has shown he is capable of some dynamic throws when the Bears offensive line keeps him on his feet.
It doesn’t feel like the Bears want to draft Caleb Williams. Especially after Colin Cowherd who loves bragging about his relationship with the higher-ups in the USC athletic department, went on television and said Caleb Williams’s team doesn’t want him to go to Chicago.
Caleb Williams’s team refuted Cowherd’s claim. Here’s Cowherd’s response to Caleb’s goons pressing him:

Shout out to whoever Caleb Williams called who 1000% dangled Colin Cowherd over a ledge and demanded he go back on TV and pretend like Caleb can’t wait to be a Bear.
It still feels like Caleb would much rather play in Washington. Especially now that they’ve hired Kliff Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator considering when Kliff was the head coach at Texas Tech, he and Patrick Mahomes put up 43.7 points per game and Mahomes threw for over 5,000 yards which is fucking absurd.
So if Chicago at all doubts Caleb’s desire to play for them and/or they still believe in Justin Fields, there are some NFL teams who should be willing to give the Bears anything they ask for to acquire the No. 1 pick and Caleb Williams.
Here are 4 teams that should give up everything for the no. 1 overall draft pick:
1. Denver Broncos
I reallyyyy don’t think Sean Payton came out of retirement to hang out with a lobotomized Russell Wilson—whose brain has been irrevocably damaged by a hyper-specific cocktail of years of cosplaying as a star quarterback from a CW network teen drama about high school football, dropping his stepson, Future, at Future’s house and CTE.
Payton was the head coach in New Orleans for 15 years. The Saints had a Top 5 scoring offense in 9 of those 15 years. Last year, the Broncos finished 19th.
Perhaps the league has passed Payton by or perhaps Russell Wilson is a fossil who should no longer be starting NFL games but the Broncos front office invested a lot in Payton and should do everything in their power to give Payton one of the best QB prospects ever.
And trade Russell Wilson to Chicago so he could back up Justin Fields. Part of me thinks Fields could excel with a potential Hall of Famer in the QB room with him and another part of me thinks Russell Wilson is still under the impression he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and he will burn the Bears building down with a dead-eyed smile on his face before he’s ANYONE’s backup.
Russell Wilson is lowkey a sociopath and as a huge fan of chaos, I want to pour gasoline and hand him a match so he can shut his brain down and let Jesus take the wheel.
2. New York Giants
Being a New York Giants fan in the Daniel Jones era has been so fake, man. Outside of his random bursts of speed when he out-runs defenders to every first down, Jones just isn’t HIM and it’s exhausting pretending otherwise.
We watched Tommy DeVito—an undrafted rookie who looked like the size of a very tall 8th grader—rattle off a 3-game win streak with this Giants team and then turn back into a pumpkin.
But the point is, Brian Daboll’s offense combined with the offensive players already on this roster are capable of succeeding with bums so imagine if there was a talented QB back there instead of Daniel Jones who is afraid to throw down the field because he doesn’t want to maintain the reputation of being a turnover machine but that fear of making a mistake turns him into a conservative loser.
Honestly, Caleb Williams would walk into the Giants locker room on day one and instantly be the most talented quarterback in franchise history.
3. Carolina Panthers
Okay okay, sooooo the Panthers mayyyyy have made a bit of a miscalculation. They traded their future first-round pick to Chicago for an undersized QB who needed a reliable offensive weapon like DJ Moore but they traded Moore to Chicago. Yike.
So let’s do a re-do.
The Panthers should 1000% trade for their own 2024 pick back.
Sure, everyone in the media is going to mock them and they will be memed to death but all of the noise will be promptly silenced if Caleb Williams comes out in Week 1 and guts out a huge victory.
Honestly, I don’t even think the Panthers would have to wait for Week 1 to feel vindicated. There is going to be a training camp photo of Caleb standing next to Bryce and making Bryce look like Caleb’s elementary school son and we’ll all instantly understand the decision to get their pick back.
Plus, new Panthers head and converted pervert, Dave Canales, has turned Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield into All-Stars. Imagine what his offense would look like with a bonafide star running his plays instead of widdle baby Brycey.
4. Los Angeles Rams
In 2017, Sean McVay took over a Rams team that won just 4 games the year before and immediately reshaped them into an 11-win team and a squad that will be competing for Super Bowls every single season.
Shout out Matthew Stafford winning that Super Bowl but he turns 36 literally tomorrow. Tom Brady has tricked both quarterbacks as well as their organizations into believing every quarterback can play until their 50th birthday when in reality, the Rams should be preparing for a future without him and there is no better option than Caleb Williams. Especially paired with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua in McVay’s offense.
Disclaimer: I’m pretty sure Sean McVay is super prepared to retire before he gets his first gray hair so maybe they don’t even want to think about their future. Shrug.
5. Washington Commanders
Washington is ready for their franchise quarterback. Personally, I enjoyed what Sam Howell did last season standing strong every week and chucking that shit down the field despite being one of the most hit quarterbacks in NFL history.
It makes too much sense for the Commanders to draft Caleb Williams but they have the No. 2 pick which means anyone in the league can trade with the Bears, leap ahead of them, and draft Williams before they get the chance. The last thing you want is for Caleb to go somewhere else and take over the league while you end up with the consultation price QB who spends most of the season jogging off the field past the punt team jogging in.
Whatever. The Bears will probably draft Caleb Williams and none of this matters.
