4 Teams That Should Trade For DeAndre Hopkins

DeAndre Hopkins is a future Hall of Famer who still has more gas in his tank to help a team make the playoffs. Here’s what teams should snatch him up.

The Arizona Cardinals are in hell right now. Kyler Murray’s ACL evaporated. Kliff Kingsbury was fired 10 months after signing a contract extension and GM Steve Keim ‘stepped down’ which is a cute way of saying he quit before they had a chance to fire him.

Alllll that means it’s time to start selling off parts. DeAndre Hopkins is their most valuable trade piece and most teams should be rushing to acquire the 3-time All-Pro and 5-time All-star wide receiver.

But here are the 4 teams that should go out of their way to trade for DeAndre Hopkins:

1. Chicago Bears

The Bears traded for Chase Claypool midseason and it didn’t quite work out. Claypool only caught 14 passes with Chicago and Pittsburgh ended up with the 32nd overall pick in the draft. Terrible deal.

BUT, Justin Fields was struggling to stay healthy and I’m sure if Claypool had an entire training camp with Chicago, he’d look better.

Unlike Claypool, DeAndre Hopkins is a veteran and a professional who won’t embarrass the team. Hopkins gives Justin Fields a massive target that can bail him out when he’s scrambling all over the backfield because the offensive line stinks.

2. Baltimore Ravens

Disclaimer: This is only the case if Lamar Jackson is on the team next season. I am not sending Hopkins to Baltimore to catch passes from Tyler Huntley. BUT, as long as Lamar is on the Ravens, I will be here campaigning for them to finally get him a wide receiver.

Halfway through the season, Baltimore tried to solve the receiver problem by signing 36-year-old Desean Jackson. He caught 9 passes. Dope. Lamar won an MVP with his no.1 receiver, Hollywood Brown, catching a grand total of 46 passes. DeAndre Hopkins can catch more than 46 passes.

3. Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions had a Top 5 offense so they don’t necessarily need DeAndre Hopkins but sometimes strengthening up your one strength is the correct move. We’ve seen how Jared Goff performs when he’s surrounded by talent. My man went to a Super Bowl.

I am a huge Amon-Ra St. Brown fan and his game would only expand if he had a future Hall of Famer on the other side of the field that prevents him from being double-teamed. Plus, Dan Campbell loves his little trick plays so giving the Lions another playmaker might unlock even more dumb flea flickers and Madden custom plays.

4. New York Giants

As a Giants fan, of couuuurse the Giants should trade for DeAndre Hopkins. Do you know what Richie James, Darius Slayton and Marcus Johnson have in common? None of them should be the no. 1 receiver of a playoff team yet here we are traveling to Minnesota for Wildcard Weekend against Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen.

Daniel Jones proved he can win games with just him and Saquon Barkley running the option play over and over again. Imagine how great this team would be if like, anyone on this team could catch footballs.

We’re going to just ignore that Hopkins went from catching 100+ passes in Houston to only catching 42 last season and 64 this year. Oh, and he was caught doing steroids. And he’ll be 31 when the next season starts.

Ignore that previous paragraph and remember the good ol days when he was ripping footballs out of the sky and making All-Pro rosters.
