The Chicago Sky had a .500 season and managed to rise to the occasion in the postseason. They conquered the Phoenix Mercury in 4 games to win the 2021 WNBA Finals. Candace Parker returned home to Chicago in the postseason and brought a championship to her city. Mission accomplished.
But with all of these major events, there are winners and there are most certainly losers.
Here are the 4 biggest winners of the 2021 WNBA Finals:
1. Candace Parker
Candace Parker is the biggest WNBA star in the world right now. She now has 2 rings to go along with 2 regular-season MVPs, a Finals MVP, All-Star game MVP, a Defensive Player of the Year (that she won last season at age 34), Rookie of the Year, 6-time All-Star, and 6-time All-WNBA First Team. That’s excluding all of her college accolades as well as everything she’s accomplished overseas.
Next time Shaq tries to play her on the TNT studio halftime show, Candace has full permission to strangle that Papa John’s apologist live on TV.
2. Love
Most of the fanfare has been given to Candace Parker but the Chicago Sky could not have won Game 4 without Allie Quigley dropping 26 points and her 4th quarter sharpshooting to help bring the crowd alive and hype up the team.
Probably makes the moment slightly more meaningful when you are playing alongside your wife, Courtney Vandersloot, who had her own 10 points, 9 rebounds and 15 assists. Winning a championship with your spouse sounds dope. Warriors need to sign Ayesha Curry.
BIG SHOTS. BIG PLAYMAKING. VANDERQUIGS ❤️

3. Kahleah Cooper
I wrote about Kahleah Copper a few days ago so I won’t repeat myself here but please deliver the BAG to this woman’s front door asap.
And now onto the Losers….
1. Derek Fisher
Let me start this off by saying fuck Derek Fisher. He was one of the worst head coaches in NBA history who had an affair with an active player’s wife and somehow managed to finesse his way into a head coaching opportunity in the WNBA. Then in the biggest moment of his entire coaching career with the LA Sparks, he elected to bench his star, Candace Parker for no reason at all.
This Chicago Sky championship couldn’t have happened if it weren’t for Fisher being the dumbest dummy of all dummies.
2. Chris Paul
Nothing brings this country together quite like mocking Chris Paul on Twitter for any and all reasons. This time, it’s the fact that he and Candace Parker share the ‘CP3’ nickname and Candace now has 2 rings to Paul’s 0.
LOL @ Chris Paul.
3. Maya Moore
Maya Moore was the decorated player in the women’s game. Candace Parker is a little older than Moore but you could comfortably sort them within the same generation of players after Taurasi and Sue Bird but before Breanna Stewart and Elena Delle Donne.
Maya would’ve gone down as the GOAT but instead she dropped everything for that prison D and now Candace Parker can easily look back at her career with this Sky ring on her finger and call herself the best of her class.
4. Phoenix Mercury
Yes, obviously the Phoenix Mercury lost the 2021 WNBA Finals but I need to take this opportunity to thoroughly dunk on the most annoying team in the league forever crying about foul calls and throwing dirty elbows and just being bed bugs for an entire season.
We understand everything that Diana Taurasi has contributed to the women’s game and blah blah but get her old ass out of here. Homegirl dribbles the ball up to her ear and chucks up terrible contested 3’s and lazy ESPN hosts are like ‘MAMBA MENTALITY’. Enough. Pass the fucking torch already.
