Zack Snyder Steps Down From Justice League

Snyder tells The Hollywood Reporter he is stepping away from Justice League, Warner Bros.’ all-star DC Comics superhero mega-movie that is in postproduction, in order to deal with the sudden death of his daughter. Snyder’s wife, Deborah Snyder, who is a producer on Justice League, also is taking a break to focus on the healing of their family.

Stepping in to shepherd the movie through post and the shooting of some additional scenes will be Joss Whedon, the Avengers filmmaker and creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. With Whedon’s help, the movie is still on track for its Nov. 17 release date.

Damn it. I was so hyped to hear that Zack Snyder was stepping down from Justice League and that Joss Whedon was stepping in to fix all of his messes. I thought DC and Warner Bros came to their senses and actually rewatched Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

But nope, unfortunately there was a tragedy that must take Snyder away so I can’t even really enjoy this victory. Let’s just hope that the decisions that Whedon makes are obvious enough to give him complete credit for the final product.[1. unless the movie is bad in which case it is completely Snyder’s fault.]

All I know is that regardless of who directs Justice League and regardless of quality, I will be there opening night like a loser.

Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think Joss Whedon is going to right this ship. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
