On Tuesday, Greg Bishop of Sports Illustrated passed along Young’s comments about longtime NFL starter Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Arizona Cardinals’ decision to add Blaine Gabbert in May.
“Exactly,” he said referring to Gabbert’s signing despite his lack of prior success. “I hate to name-drop, but [Ryan] Fitzpatrick is still playing!? He leads the league in interceptions, and he’s still f–king getting paid? I mean, what the f–k is going on?”
“I’d see a quarterback and be like, ‘Dude is garbage, and I’m over here in the kitchen cooking turkey necks!?'” he told Sports Illustrated.
Vince Young isn’t wrong. I mean, Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t lead the league in interceptions. He was third. But if Vince Young was in the league then he would’ve been like, 4th in interceptions which is obviously better than Fitzpatrick.
Young is 34-years old and retired in 2014 and after suffering a hamstring injury, he was cut from a Canadian Football League team[1. No, I’m not going to Google the name of the fucking Canada football team.] about a month ago. Something tells me that even if he didn’t have that recent injury, he’d still be absent from an NFL roster.
Part of this has to do with this hot take about Fitzpatrick being garbage. My man is an asshole. I mean, Aaron Rodgers is an asshole too but he’s also the best quarterback in the NFL. Look at Odell Beckham. He has the maturity of a 13-year old and he’s about the have the biggest wide receiver contract of all time. But the second he stops producing at the highest level, he’ll be unemployed talking shit about Danny Woodhead still having a job while he doesn’t.
Should Vince Young be in the NFL? probably not. Should Ryan Fitzpatrick be in the NFL? Probably not. The NFL sucks.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think Vince Young would be a starter in the NFL today. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousnes a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
