The New York Knicks are the best team in the NBA right now and no one can tell me otherwise. The new resurgence and guaranteed deep playoff run has inspired me to look back and the greatest Knicks ever.
Someone at the bar last weekend asked me to give my top 5 New York Knicks of all time so I decided I’ll write it out because everyone deserves this knowledge. So without further ado, here are the 7 greatest New York Knicks of all time.
Honorable Mention: Earl Monroe
All my life I’ve heard how great Earl “The Pearl” Monroe is. Well the problem is I’ve only seen one old grainy slow motion video clip of him doing a finger roll layup. I’m pretty sure this man didn’t actually exist. Old New York Knicks folklore. 16 points a game, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Get your stats up, Pearl.
Am I biased towards players that I’ve actually witnessed play in my life time? Duh. Have you ever read Deadseriousness? There is no website more biased than this one. The fact that I gave Earl Monroe the honorable mention should be enough for you old people who are going to tweet me about how wrong this list is.
7. John Starks
John Starks dunked over Michael Jordan. That alone makes him one of the greatest Knicks ever. That dunk single-handedly forced Jordan into retirement. John Starks is the reason we have the Michael Jordan crying face meme. John Starks is the reason Michael Jordan drafted Adam Morrison 3rd overall in the 2006 NBA draft over Rudy Gay and JJ Redick.
John Starks was a key player in the Knicks success in the 90’s. Every time he stepped on the floor you knew the Knicks were about to go on like, a 20 point run and throw Jordan out of the building.
