So on Sunday afternoon, 3 days prior to the trade deadline, the New York Mets, who are currently 11.5 games out of first place in the NL East and 6 games from the second wild card position, decided to give up two of their top pitching prospects for Marcus Stroman.
If anyone else was running the Mets, they would recognize how weak their farm system currently is and would be sellers at the trade deadline considering they have no chance at making the playoffs and they need to acquire assets as opposed to giving them away for stars that will just lose with them.
Enter Brodie Van Wagenen, who started the year by warning the league. He said ‘come get us’ while putting together a team full of position players that all play the same position and no bullpen.
The strength of this team is their starting pitching so naturally, Brodie went out of his way to acquire a catcher who can’t call games/play defense at all and get the most out of those starters.
With rumors swirling that the Mets were going to move Noah Syndergaard or Edwin Diaz at the trade deadline, they’ve instead ripped the best pitcher off the Toronto Blue Jays to…lose with them?
What the fuck is wrong with Brodie Van Wagenen?
The Mets hired an agent as their general manager instead of, ya know, someone will MLB front office experience and this is the end result. He traded for Robinson Cano, Edwin Diaz and now Marcus Stroman. They are 5 games below .500.
So now the New York Mets have one of the best starting rotations in baseball, a defense that lets every groundball eat them alive, hitters that can’t get on base and a bullpen that immediately loses the lead. Oh, and a farm system ravaged by a dust bowl with the best hitter being former Denver Broncos quarterback, Tim Tebow.
Brodie Van Wagenen, you dumb fuck.
