There are rumors floating around the NBA that the Cavaliers aren’t done after trading Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics for a banged up Isaiah Thomas. There seems like there’s still one more move to be made if they expect to beat the Golden State Warriors next season and keep LeBron James from buying plane tickets to Los Angeles.
There’s a very good chance that the Brooklyn Nets pick will land in the top 5 of what looks to be a very strong top heavy 2018 NBA draft which means that they’ll be able to get a star player in exchange for the pick. Sure, we all know that they should probably just keep the pick and start developing young talent but LeBron hates rookies and if you want to make the almighty LeBron James happy, you have to trade all young talent for Kevin Love-esque players. Yikes.
Enter DeMarcus Cousins who is in the last year of his deal in New Orleans and chances are, the Pelicans aren’t going to have a good season. I love this team going back to the 70s and 80s by stacking their front court and having zero shooters around them. I love even more that they combated that problem by signing Rajon Rondo, the worst shooting point guard in the NBA. Pelicans in 4.
As much as I love Boogie and Anthony Davis battling in the paint together, there is nothing I’d love more than LeBron James subtweeting DeMarcus, only to have Boogie go into practice the next day and punch LeBron’s head off of his body. LeBron would finally have a player on the roster that he can’t push around and Boogie would devour him.
Plus, DeMarcus Cousins is the best big man in the NBA and it’s time the rest of the world sees it. Get him into the NBA finals and watch him score 30 points by halftime, rip down 20 rebounds and powerbomb Steph Curry into the concession stands when he goes up for a layup.
Should the Cleveland Cavaliers trade the Brooklyn Nets pick for DeMarcus Cousins?
Absolutely not. But it would be must-see TV sooo, yes.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think the Cavs should pull the trigger on DeMarcus Cousins. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
