9. Aegon Targaryen
I understand that for book readers, this is the biggest deal on the planet and I will never truly understand their obsession with Rhaeger and Lyana. It’s not my place to tell people what they should and shouldn’t be excited about. I get it.
Just had to get that out of the way before I complain about how awful this is in the context of the Game of Thrones television show. When you reveal that Jon Snow is actually a Targaryen and the rightful heir to the iron throne, what you’re actually doing is lessening the importance of the battle with the White Walkers but most importantly, you are undercutting everything Daenerys has been through and accomplished.
People think Jon Snow had such a tough journey but did he really? He’s the King of the North because his dad was Ned Stark. He’s the best fighter in the North because he grew up having the best training because his dad was Ned Stark. He’s sneaky an entitled rich kid who just happens to be the most humble man in the world but things have been handed to him because his dad was Ned Stark.
From the very first time we see Daenerys, she’s being sexually handled by her brother and sold off to the Dothraki. After being pretty much raped, Daenerys was able to make Khal Drago submissive to her and she earned the respect of the entire horde. Homegirl ate a fucking heart.
That moment at the end of season 1 where she’s covered in ash but she’s unharmed by the fire and her dragons are born still gives me chills. And from that moment on she built her power. She earned the respect of the Unsullied. She took Mereen. She built this gigantic empire. If her last name wasn’t Tageryen, we’d still be rooting for her to take the Iron Throne.
Welllll, none of that matters anymore because Jon is actually the heir so Daenerys can go kick rocks. Game of Thrones season 7 sucked.
