Spoiler: Thanos pretty much killed everyone in the universe. The Avengers lost and Thanos retrieved all of the Infinity Stones and then murked everyone except the original Avengers team. It hurts talking about it. The wound is still fresh.
At the very end of the movie, we see Samuel L. Jackson call Captain Marvel on a beeper which makes it very clear that not only is Captain Marvel around throughout all of the Avengers movies but Nick Fuy could’ve called her at any time but chose to call up like, Hawkeye, instead.
In the comics, Captain Marvel might be the strongest hero out of all of the Avengers and I get the feeling that Iron Man could’ve used her help on Titan where Thanos was throwing a fucking MOON at him.
So where is Captain Marvel?
From what we know about her solo movie thus far, the Brie Larson led vehicle will be set in the 90’s and Nick Fury will essentially be a co-star. Carol Danvers, the air force pilot, must’ve gained her powers about a decade before Iron Man built that suit to kill terrorists in the Middle East. Why didn’t Nick Fury recruit her with the original Avengers team?
By showing that Nick Fury had the ability to call her on that beeper at any time makes it very clear that not only has she been around this entire time but she also could show up on her own power literally any time she wanted. Like, she’s not lost in space or in a coma or something. Nope, just casually waiting for a BBM Ping from Sam Jackson.
There’s a high probability that she’s in space. Captain Marvel gets her powers from the Kree who, in the comics, are an alien race that are in perpetual war with the Skrull. Guardians of the Galaxy touches upon the Kree but these alien races have still yet to really be explored.
So maybe Captain Marvel is so caught up in the middle of this war that it’s taken her off the planet entirely. Perhaps she had an agreement with Fury that she would come back if she was truly needed. Again, I’d argue that when Loki opened the sky up and sent aliens to destroy New York, Captain Marvel probably should’ve gotten a ‘U up?’ text.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the only movies coming between Avengers 3 and Avengers 4 is Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel. Ant-Man and the Wasp will apparently dig into the multiverse in hopes of finding the original Wasp, Michelle Pfieffer.
It’s also been rumored that Michelle Pfieffer could appear in both Captain Marvel as well as Avengers 4 sooo let’s put these pieces together.
Hank Pym and his wife Janet Van Dyne discover this multiverse, probably around the 90’s. Captain Marvel takes place in the 90’s. Janey Van Dyne goes missing in the multiverse. Captain Marvel, too, appears to have gone missing since the 90’s.
If you’re wondering why Brie Larson is playing Captain Marvel from 20 years ago and thinking to yourself ‘uh, wait are they going to age her or pretend like she hasn’t aged at all?’ The answer could very well be that she is lost in the multiverse and lost in time.
If you will allow me to continue this bullshit speculation, how do you think the Avengers beat Thanos? Time travel. Who appears to be traveling through time in the MCU? Captain fucking Marvel.
Done. Nailed it. I’m going on break.
