Oakland, the Yankees continue to talk about Sonny Gray. Yankees have been focused on players who can help them in ’17 and beyond.

Why isn’t Sonny Gray on the New York Yankees yet? There seems to be this belief in the Yankees front office that this team doesn’t need another starter and that they don’t want to trade away young prospects. Luis Severino has emerged as a true Ace of the staff. That’s true. But unfortunately, he’s not pitching every single day.
Plus, what’s the point of acquiring all of those young talented prospects if not to flip them for an All-Star? Jorge Mateo and Esteban Florial are very talented but you cannot keep them. There are only so many positions available. Aaron Judge, Clint Frazier, Didi Gregorius, Gary Sanchez and Starlin Castro are here to stay. If Greg Bird decides he’s done breaking every bone in his body than first base is his. You need to move these young players in the minors.
Sonny Gray has two more years left on his contract so this wouldn’t be a one-year rental. He could easily step into the position that Michael Pineda left wide open after needing Tommy John Surgery. Masahiro Tanaka is a garbage bag this season. The Yankees need Sonny Gray and they should give Oakland whatever the fuck they want.
David Price and Chris Sale are going to snatch up the AL East for the Boston Red Sox while Masahiro Tanaka is going to give up infinity home runs.
There is no reason why Sonny Gray isn’t on the New York Yankees right now.
