“The NFL has hurt us,” Schnatter said, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell. “We are disappointed the NFL and its leadership did not resolve this.”
Executives said Papa John’s, which has been the official pizza sponsor of the NFL since 2010, pulled most of its NFL television advertising. The league responded by giving the company additional future spots.
“Leadership starts at the top and this is an example of poor leadership,” Schnatter said, adding that he thought the issue was “nipped in the bud” a year and a half ago.
Shout out to the fun happy Italian from the Peyton Manning Papa Johns’ commercial for turning into Michael Corleone when his business starts to take a hit. How many bodies are at the bottom of the Hudson River after this NFL season is done?
The wildest part of this story is not that the Papa John’s stock has dropped but that you can purchase stock in Papa John’s. I’m out of the writing game and investing all of my money in pizza shares.
Oh, I should also mention that players kneeling to protest police brutality and racial injustice has literally zero effects on the sales of Papa fucking John’s but I appreciate John Schnatter taking the mask off to reveal he’s a scumbag.
Hopefully he and Bob McNair can prevent the ‘inmates from running the prison’ before all hell breaks loose.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think Papa John’s is actually good pizza so I can mock you. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
